Emilie de Ravin: The ‘Lost’ Starlet Has Made Her Way to the Hallmark Channel
Read all about her career highlights and latest venture
Whether you recognize Emilie de Ravin for her role in the hit teen drama Roswell during the early 2000s, her part as Claire in the hit sci-fi series Lost or for the way she brought to life Belle in the fantasy drama Once Upon a Time, the blonde, Australian beauty has been on the acting scene for quite a while. Though it’s her television roles that many know her for, she’s also made a splash in the film industry as well in movies like The Hills Have Eyes (2006) and Remember Me (2010). Recently, however, Emilie de Ravin has broken out into an all-new scene—the Hallmark Channel. Here, read all about her illustrious career, her famous roles and her latest movie on the beloved network alongside Hallmark favorite Andrew Walker.
Emilie de Ravin on the stage
Before the actress became the starlet we know her as today, Emilie was shining on the stage as an accomplished ballerina. Dance was a craft she began cultivating as a young girl, and by the time she was a teenager, she was accepted into the Australian Ballet School before making the shift to acting on screen—another form of performing and way of expressing oneself that appealed to her. While her first role was in the Australian series BeastMaster, it wasn’t long before she made the jump to American television when she took on the part of Tess, an alien with villainous intentions, in Roswell.

“It was my first big job,” de Ravin said in an interview as reported by Crashdown.com back in 2004. “I got to move down here, to LA. I was just 18. We had a great bunch of people on that show. I had a lot of creative input and worked with people I learned a lot from, people who were very helpful to me, me being new to the country and trying to figure things out. So I have fond memories of Roswell.”
Emilie de Ravin gets ‘Lost’
De Ravin was introduced in the survival drama as a good-natured expecting mother, and Claire, her character, goes on quite the journey throughout the duration of the show—much like her real-life portrayer did while starring on the hit series. And as for the show’s controversial ending, the actress had her own thoughts.

“I don’t think everyone is going to be satisfied with the end of every show or every movie, especially something complex like this where you can’t answer every question,” she told GQ in 2010. “That’s one thing I heard: Why didn’t they answer everything! But it’s sort of boring to answer everything. You’d need another 500 episodes to do so. And I thought it ended in such a beautiful way.”
De Ravin gets the royal treatment in ‘Once Upon a Time’
De Ravin brought to life the character of Belle in the iconic fantasy drama series, and it’s a role that she played for several years. “It’s been such a wonderful experience bringing Belle to life with our own spin on such an iconic character,” she told TVGuide back in 2017. “It’s pretty cool.”
Emilie de Ravin hits up Hallmark
Earlier in the year, de Ravin made her debut on The Hallmark Channel in The Reluctant Royal alongside Andrew Walker. The actor starred as Johnny, a Philly-based mechanic who learns that his dad is a duke—and the duke’s advisor, Prudence, has caught his eye.
“There’s such a big evolution for many characters, but predominantly for Prudence and Johnny, and also for the duke,” de Ravin told Swooon. “Even though it’s a love story between Prudence and Johnny, it’s also a love story between the duke and his son, and also between the relationship that I have with the duke. He raised Prudence since she was quite a young girl. It’s such a beautiful study on how differences don’t have to equal conflict. There was a little bit of that initially, but if you’re a good person, differences don’t matter.” Catch her latest flick on Hallmark+!
