On July 30, Lacey Chabert is set to shine alongside Scott Michael Foster in the exciting new Hallmark+ series Paris Is Always a Good Idea. Chabert takes the lead in this project as Chelsea, who, alongside her colleague Jason (played by Foster), travels to Paris for work. While there, she receives an unexpected message from her late mother that prompts her to reconnect with three former flames from her past throughout Europe. Her travels take her on adventures through the City of Love, Spain and Ireland in this heartfelt tale consisting of six episodes.
In an exclusive chat with Woman’s World, Lacey Chabert and Scott Michael Foster opened up about working on this series, diving into their characters and what it was like filming on location in Paris and Spain.

For Chabert, diving into her character of Chelsea was a treat. “I love how tenacious Chelsea is. I think she really learns that some of her best assets are also things that possibly hold her back,” she revealed. “She has to have the self awareness and the courage to open her heart to figure out if she’s left the love of her life behind or is that true love right in front of her? So I love the journey. I think it’s super relatable, and I love how much she loves her family and has a big heart.”
As for Foster, when it came to bringing Jason Knightly to life, he enjoyed leaning into the parts of his character that differed from his true self.
“I think one thing I am jealous of that Knightly has is this confidence, and they bring him in to be sort of like the closer, the smooth talker who can get anything done with his words. And I’m so not that way, so I was like, ‘Oh man, this is really a cool attribute to have.’” He continued, “There was a lot to like about Knightly, even though at first he might seem like he’s a bit of a foil, he has a lot to him that you learn about throughout the series.”
The ‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’ cast made memories together
Though Hallmark may be known for their heartwarming and romantic flicks, bringing a series to life allowed the cast to really bond—and take in their stunning surroundings!
“We got to spend two and a half, three months instead of just a few weeks with these characters, and not only does that give you time to really explore who they are, but for us, we get to spend more time with each other and with the crew and in these incredible locations,” Foster explained. “I think it’s a richer experience, and I think that translates to the screen.”
As for immersing themselves in the culture of their filming locations, one of their favorite ways to do so was by diving into the local eats, with Lacey listing off pastries, croissants, French onion soup and steak frites as a few of her favorite bites. Foster, on the other hand, urges folks to try out the basque cheesecake if you ever find yourself in San Sebastian, Spain.
Whether they were exploring the local food scene or simply spending time with their fellow castmates, it’s safe to say that bringing Paris Is Always a Good Idea to life was a joyous experience—and once that’s sure to come through in their performances!
