Get to know Lacey Chabert’s husband: Who is the private businessman David Nehdar?
Chabert’s husband is a businessman named David Nehdar. They have been married since 2013 and, according to her, the proposal was a total surprise.
“I’m very nosy, and if something’s going on, I’m going to know about it because I’m very sensitive. I pick up on little things… so I’m hard to surprise,” Chabert told Home & Family in 2019. “So there I am, so shocked and surprised that I literally don’t know what’s going on until he’s on one knee, actually saying the words ‘Will you marry me?’ I’m, like, ‘What are you doing? A box? You weren’t supposed to buy me jewelry. We’re going to save money.’ He’s, like, ‘Just be quiet.’ Of course, we’re both crying.”
Following the engagement, the surprises didn’t stop, with the actress telling People magazine in 2014, “It was perfect chaos.”
“I was in the middle of shooting a movie, and we planned the entire thing in about six weeks. The caterer quit two days before, my sisters’ dresses didn’t arrive and one of my shoes broke–crazy stuff like that. It was just nuts, but it was perfect at the same time,” she continued. “None of the stuff that you worried about mattering actually mattered in the end. I think the highlight was having my dad walk me down the aisle. He’s been really sick, and I just know that’s a moment that I will treasure forever.”
Life as a mother: raising daughter Julia Mimi Bella Nehdar
In September 2016, Chabert gave birth to her daughter, Julia Mimi Bella. “I came from a big family, and I’ve always dreamed of having my own children and a big family [for] myself,” the actress told People magazine in 2015. “So it’s definitely something of utmost importance to me.”
She’s the actress’ only child, and she’s shared that Julia loves coming to work with her.
“Now, [Julia’s] the most important thing, and it’s not only about my marriage but also what works for the family and the baby,” Chabert said in a 2017 BUILD video. “I am lucky that my job allows me to bring her to set with me, which is really nice.”
In that same interview, though, Chabert did reveal that she has “learned to ask for help. I have a very supportive husband, a very supportive family and I’ve learned to ask for help and you just kind of figure it out as you go and do your best.”
Why Lacey Chabert chooses to keep her family life private
Despite loving her life as a mom and as a wife, Chabert does prefer to keep the details of her private life private, saying in that same BUILD series, “I think it’s nice to be able to be a little more in control.”
“I’m a very private person, and my private life is obviously the most precious thing in my life, so I’m very protective over my family,” she continued. “As a parent now, I think that parents should obviously be in control of when and where their child’s picture is shown or shared, or not. That’s everyone’s personal decision and that’s been made a lot easier with social media.”
