Laysla De Oliveira is opening up about what fans can expect from Lioness: Special Ops Season 3. While sitting down with Woman’s World to promote the season, the actress shared how she felt about going back, how involved Taylor Sheridan was with the show and more. Laysla De Oliveira teases ‘Lioness’ Season 3
Lioness: Special Ops follows CIA operative Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldaña) and her elite team as they navigate dangerous military operations. De Oliveira plays Cruz Manuelos, a highly skilled Marine who is recruited by the CIA to go undercover and infiltrate terrorist and criminal organizations from the inside.
“I think the first season for all of us was just kind of like whiplash because there were three Oscar winners,” De Oliveira tells Woman’s World. “This season we’re really moving as a unit. I am so thankful to be working with them and feel we’re in flow state with them. It is an amazing ensemble cast.”
Speaking of Season 3, De Oliveira’s reaction to it was “yes, I’m back!”
“Every season is completely different. You think you know what you’re gonna see. You don’t. It’s completely different,” she teases. “The mission’s really personal this year, and the stakes are really high because of that.”
“But the amazing thing is that we know what we’re getting into, so we can prepare a little bit more. For me this year, it was a challenge, but it was very exciting to see Cruz do things that I haven’t seen before, like smile, make jokes, and explore more of her personal life,” she continued. “When I was reading those lines, there was a lot of like, huh? How does my character say that? Or how is it so simple? It’s so simple, but playing something for two years in a certain way, and then all of a sudden you’re saying things you’ve never said before. How do you do that?”

Lioness: Special Ops was co-created by Sheridan and Jill Wagner. It was inspired by Team Lioness, a real U.S. military program from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and is just as thrilling as it is heartbreaking.
“Taylor’s very involved. He wrote everything, he shows up to set—he does everything,” De Oliveira says. “He’s very attentive. It’s not just the words. It’s down to how many hair strands he wants on your face. He’s a very visual person. I find that even when I’m talking to him and need some clarity on some things, I can send pictures or the actual dialog. He’s extremely visual, and it’s very exciting for us to work with him.”
As for what other Sheridan shows De Oliveira is watching, she says she’s a ”big Yellowstone girl.”
“I love Beth Dutton [Kelly Reilly] so much, and when we got to meet her [Reilly] it was very exciting. And she loves us, too, which is really cool,” she added. “I would love to see the Dutton world intertwine with ours in some way..”
