Ted Danson's on-screen daughter opens up about her character and costar on set
Season 2 of A Man on the Inside debuts on Netflix today, November 20, and no one is as excited as Lilah Richcreek Estrada. In the show, the actress plays Julie, Charles’ (Ted Danson) daughter, and while she might have seemed a little reserved in Season 1, that is all going to change in the new season. Woman’s World recently sat down with Richcreek Estrada to learn more about the shift and what it was really like to work with Danson, among other things. Keep scrolling to read what she had to say.
Lilah Richcreek Estrada spills on ‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 2
Season 2 of A Man on the Inside is expected to follow Charles after he goes undercover on a college campus to solve a crime and, according to Richcreek Estrada, “ fans are going to love it.”
“It’s a brand new case, and we get to meet a whole new cast of guest stars. And this cast is incredible. It is stacked. We have so much talent,” she continued. “The case is so much fun, and there’s a lot more comedy in it. Plus, mysteries are so much fun in general and to have a brand new one, I think it’s gonna take the audience on a whole new ride.”
Speaking of which, Richcreek Estrada’s Julie is expressive in the second season, which the actress says will help viewers understand her more.

“In Season 1, Mike [Schur, the creator] wanted the audience to not know anything about her,” the actress explained. “She doesn’t want you to know anything about her. She’s got her walls up, she’s got her boundaries and wants to be seen in a certain way. And this season, we get to peek behind the curtain and see that she’s maybe not exactly how she presents. She’s got a lot of stuff going on personally.”
“I really love human behavior. I’m a neuroscience nerd and I love psychology. I love digging deep into why a person is the way they are and I feel like I bring all my natural curiosity for humanity, so we get to learn more about Julie and she becomes more of a 3D human this season,” Richcreek Estrada continued. “The fact that she doesn’t let anybody know what’s really going on is very telling as to who she is, but we get to see more of the why behind that this season. I just did my best to honor that, because I have a natural curiosity about human behavior, and wanted to make her well-rounded and relatable as well.”
What it’s really like working with Ted Danson
For all the Ted Danson fans out there, we have some good news for you. According to Richcreek Estrada, he’s “absolutely the nicest man in Hollywood.”
“He’s just really easy to work with because there’s no ego. We’re all equals. We’re all trying to make a show here and have fun while doing it,” she continued. “It’s easy fun and the chemistry is there. And now that we’re friends in real life, I feel like that translates to what you see on screen this season.”

Also translating to the screen this season? Danson’s love for his wife, Mary Steenburgen, who is joining the cast in a romantic role.
“She’s great. She’s so cool, content and just such a secure person that it’s really lovely to be around her. Plus, she’s so talented,” Richcreek Estrada said. “And she and Ted are so in love and they’ve been together for 30 plus years. That banter is really cute and fun to witness as well. She was just such an awesome addition to the cast and we’re so lucky that we got to have her this season.”
