Get to Know All 7 of Ree Drummond’s Adorable Ranch Dogs, From Bassets to Labs
The Pioneer Woman reveals fun details about her dogs and their life on her Oklahoma ranch
Just like the rest of the world, Ree Drummond is a sucker for a furry, four-legged friend. In fact, the chef and devoted mother of five has gone as far as to adopt various breeds of dogs, all of which have appeared in one way or another in her hit show The Pioneer Women.
“They [her dogs] set up shop on the front porch,” Drummond said in 2022. “They each have their own little bed on the front porch. They’re outdoor dogs mostly anyway, and they have a whole barn to themselves if they want to go sleep in the barn sometimes, but they hardly ever leave the porch if we’re home. It’s really funny.”
Drummond and her family currently have seven dogs, all of which live with them on their ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Below, we have rounded up all the must-know information on The Pioneer Woman’s dogs, including the family’s newest addition. Keep scrolling for more.
Ree Drummond’s love of basset hounds
It turns out the celebrity chef has a thing for the basset hounds currently living on her ranch named Henry, Rusty and Fred. She also had another basset named Walter, but he sadly passed away in 2023.
“Goodbye, sweet, wonderful Walter,” Drummond wrote on Instagram at the time of his death. “I’m going to bed early so I can turn off these tears and instead dream sweet memories of you, the most loving, loyal, pure-hearted doggie our family has ever known. Go find your brother Charlie and have some fun, ol’ boy.”
But when it comes to her current hounds, Drummond says Henry has a “playful and eager personality (when he’s not busy dozing on the couch, of course).” Rusty “specializes in filming slow-motion videos. His favorite place to be is snuggled up next to his brother, Fred.” And Fred “lives for sunset walks with his human siblings.”
Drummond often posts fun videos showcasing her three bassets on her Instagram, one of which you can watch below!
Ree Drummond’s labs: Duke and Lucy
Another dog breed that Drummond loves is the yellow Labrador Retriever. The chef currently has two named Duke and Lucy, and like most labs, they can be quite bizarre.
“Duke is the alpha dog of the group. As such, he’s been known to chew up volleyballs,” she wrote on her website. “But he secretly loves nothing more than cuddling with his sidekick, Lucy.”
Drummond also said that Lucy “ is a big sweetheart with an even bigger heart. This loving girl’s natural habitat is on Paige’s lap or wherever Duke is napping.”
The mom of five often posts pictures and videos of the two labs on her Instagram, as you can see below.
Also on the ranch, Drummond has a four-year-old German Shepherd named Presley.
“Presley is a loyal watchdog whose favorite post is by Ree’s side,” reads The Pioneer’s Women’s website. “But he’s devoted to all of his people.”
Most recently, the Drummonds adopted a pup named Shelby, who joined the family back in 2023 and has since gone viral on social media for her “floating ear.”
“Meet Shelby, she’s new here,” Drummond said at the time of adoption. “She’s a funny little doggie. I can’t look at her and not chuckle.”
“I mean… Shelby, you’re the best!“
