When it comes to hunks of WWE, few hold a candle to 39-year-old Roman Reigns. Born Leati Joseph Anoaʻi, the wrestling persona that he’s cultivated over the last several years has made him a household name for wrestling fans all over the world—but don’t be fooled by his tough-as-nails performances and wince-worthy matchups. Outside of the ring, Roman Reigns is a doting husband to his wife, Galina Becker and a proud father of five. Here, read all about his relationship and marriage, and the family he and his wife of over a decade have built together since first meeting back in college.

How Roman Reigns met his wife, Galina Becker

It was at the Georgia Institute of Technology when Reigns and Becker first crossed paths, and the two became fast friends before their relationship blossomed into romance. As the wrestling superstar remembers their early days together, the two were inseparable, he shared back in 2016 on WWE Unfiltered. The couple has certainly evolved from the era of being young and in love, in which no one in the world mattered but them, having endured evolving careers, parenthood and even serious health issues, but Reigns shared that there’s no true secret to a happy marriage. “It’s hard work. You have to know how to give and take,” he explained.

Roman Reigns and Galina Becker’s growing family

When he isn’t dominating in the ring, Roman Reigns is kept busy by his five children. Oldest daughter Joelle leads the pack, and the now-17-year-old is big sis to four younger brothers—talk about outnumbered! As for whether or not any of his kids will follow in his footsteps, Reigns recently shared with Vanity Fair that he has a feeling at least one of his boys will continue his legacy. “They’re going to be nurtured to think, like, Well, everybody’s just living a wrestling life,” he explained. “That’s what you’re supposed to do, just train and eat.” Only time will tell!

Galina Becker’s support through Roman’s leukemia battles

Roman Reigns has proven he has what it takes to face off against any opponent, and he maintained that same strength and fortitude when he went up against leukemia not once, but twice. He was diagnosed for the first time with chronic myeloid leukemia in his early twenties and in 2018, he learned that it had returned. Back in 2008, when he was first diagnosed, he leaned on his wife, who was pregnant with their first child, for support. “I didn’t really have anybody,” he told People. “I didn’t think it was anybody’s fault, I just had my wife—who was pregnant at the time. My mom, just the kind of mother she is, she was my rock, she was my support system doing all the worrying and all the praying and it felt like I was a little bit on an island.”

In 2024, Roman Reigns revealed in a press conference that he is still on oral chemotherapy, a medication he will likely have to remain on for the entirety of his life. However, he clarified that he is still able to perform and is in remission. In spite of the ups and downs the wrestling superstar has been thrown over the course of his life and career, it’s clear that his wife and family are those he leans on in his day-to-day—and we wish them nothing but the best!
