As Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt check into The Bold and the Beautiful for the latest Forrester fashion show and a dose of soap opera drama, the reality TV super couple gets candid with Women’s World about the international swelling of love and support they’ve felt since the Palisades wildfire destroyed their home in January.

With Montag’s new single “No Going Home” set to drop Friday, Speidi reflects on what the future holds and whether they’d let their kids go into the business.

Plus, having found redemption in the wake of The Hills, would Pratt ever play the villain again?

Reality TV’s Speidi takes us behind the scenes at ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’

Reality TV shows are often packed with soapy showdowns, love triangles and villainy—but that’s not the only reason coming to shoot episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful felt familiar to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag.

“Heidi and I definitely delivered more takes for The Hills than they do on The Bold and the Beautiful,” cracks Pratt, who cameos as himself alongside Montag, today thru Monday. “The Hills show was as scripted as you can get, and we did so many takes and angles and different approaches to everything.”

With soap operas shot at an infamously fast pace, the pair didn’t have a lot of downtime time to socialize with guest stars like The Young and the Restless’ Lauralee Bell or with The Bold and the Beautiful showrunner Bradley Bell. That said, they were impressed with what they saw.

“It was nice to hear about the legacy behind this show and about them growing up in that world, with their dad (William J. Bell) the one who orchestrated all this,” Montag says. “It’s that old Hollywood nostalgia, and it was great to be on a set where everyone—every camera operator, director, producer, actor—is where they want to be. You see why people want to be so immersed in that world. And how talented they are! It just gives you such a respect for the art and the passion, and to be a part of that was spectacular.”

How fans are making Heidi Montag cry

While the pair is game to come back to The Bold and the Beautiful again, Montag is currently enjoying an unexpected pop star era. After the couple lost their home to the Southern California wildfires in January, Pratt invited fans to stream her 2010 album Superficial in honor of its re-release —and the 15-year-old album rose to #1 on iTunes, while the single “I’ll Do It” went viral.

Now, Montag is playing summer festivals, releasing a new single inspired by the wildfires on Friday, and dropping a standalone Heidiwood album on May 30.

“I’m gonna start crying,” she says when asked about it. “It has honestly been the biggest dream come true, and this is a dream I’ve had since I was five years old. There are home videos! Spencer always believed in it and we’ve had fans, but to have people support our family and elevate us in such a dark time has meant everything.

“It’s really changed my perspective on life and on people, because I’d definitely given up on everyone’s public opinion changing for us,” she admits. “For the world to rally behind us with such positivity has been a miracle. It’s been so beautiful to see people coming up to our children and being so kind, loving, and uplifting, and to have our boys see that you can have dreams come true later in life. God closed the door and opened a window.”

Spencer Pratt talks about finding hope after the SoCal wildfires

As they enjoy the success of her music and his most recent reality show—not to mention the visit to The Bold and the Beautiful—Montag and Pratt are still dealing with the insurance company, the logistics, and other repercussions of the wildfires.

“It just never ends,” Pratt says. “My parents had zero insurance, so they’ve put their lot up for sale, and people keep asking if we’re going to rebuild in the Palisades. At our current rate of hustle, I would imagine in five to 10 years, maybe we could have the money to rebuild. I’m just trying to focus on building success, and then we’ll see what happens.”

For now, they’re renting in Santa Barbara and refusing to complain.

“It’s hard to not feel survivor’s guilt,” Pratt confides. “My mom keeps on saying to me, ‘I know you’re so happy.’ I am? Our house burned down, and the house I grew up in burned down. I’m NOT happy. I’m just feeling hope, because we have this momentum behind us.”

Spencer & Heidi reveal whether they’d let their kids follow in their reality TV footsteps

It’s been almost 20 years since Pratt and Montag fell for each other on The Hills, and thankfully they’ve come a long way since then. While they’ve felt a swell of love this year, Pratt believes the tides started to shift back when he started sharing their lives 24/7 via Snapchat in 2015.

“I was only on The Hills for like three minutes every episode, and they were obviously not in a positive light,” he explains. “I just covered those minutes up with so much authentic, true content of who I am, who Heidi is, who our family is, and our morals and our values. It’s gotten to the point where now the younger generation goes back to The Hills, and they find my true essence even in the bad moments.”

Having recently been a fan favorite on Hulu’s Got to Get Out, Pratt reveals his son Gunner, 7, is begging to compete with him next season. If Gunner or Ryker, 2, actually catch the reality or acting bug, Speidi is ready.

“We’ll support their dreams in whatever way,” Montag says. “Obviously we’d monitor it and be very hands on. We have so much experience, so we’d be able to help Gunner navigate and keep everything in perspective.”

Spencer Pratt reveals what it would take to make him go bad again

During Hulu’s Get Real party earlier this week, Spencer Pratt let the Disney powers that be know Speidi is ready for more scripted and reality TV, but he’s not looking to regress.

“It’s definitely way more fun having people come up to you everywhere telling you they love you instead of saying negative things or giving you dirty looks,” Pratt admits to Woman’s World. “Unless someone pays me a lot of money, I definitely don’t want to go back to a negative villain, bad frequency type persona… But I do need to buy a couple houses for my family, so cast me Hollywood!

In the meantime, Speidi is going to enjoy watching themselves on The Bold and the Beautiful.

“There’s nothing like a Forrester fashion show, that’s for sure,” Heidi Montag concludes with a wink. “And there might be some exclusive, incredible music featured on The Bold and the Beautiful. It was so amazing to be part of that world, and hopefully there’s more to come.”
