Teresa Giudice and Louie Ruelas: All About Their Romance, Wedding and Rumors
The 'RHONJ' star married her now-husband in 2022—all about their love story
Love her or hate her, there’s no denying that Teresa Giudice has cemented herself as reality TV royalty. First appearing on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey in 2009, the 53-year-old television personality is the last remaining original cast member still starring on the show. Over the years, Giudice welcomed viewers into her home, her marriage and her family—but quite a bit has changed since those early days on the screen. In 2014, Teresa served 11 months in prison for fraud, while her former husband served 41 months. Upon his release, Joe was deported to his native Italy and now lives in the Bahamas. The couple called it quits in 2020, and soon after their divorce was finalized, the RHONJ star found love again in Luis “Louie” Ruelas.
Though Teresa and Louie tied the knot in a picture-perfect wedding and share nothing but love for one another to the public, this duo has made headlines in recent months as public records revealed that they owed over $3 million in taxes combined. When taking Giudice’s prior legal troubles into account, many have expressed concern for the mom of four, but according to comments her eldest daughter Gia made on her podcast, Casual Chaos, it looks as though things are “under control” for Teresa and Louie. That said, take a look at this Real Housewives couple’s love story.

How did Teresa and Louie meet?
A Real Housewives of New Jersey love story that starts out at the Jersey Shore? Sounds about right! Teresa and Louie first crossed paths while she was out on a walk with her friend, while visiting the popular summer hotspot. “That week, he rented a house at the Jersey Shore. He ran past me that week a few times…One morning he was packing his car to leave to go back home and that’s how we met,” she revealed to Extra. When they got to talking, he gave a business card to both Teresa and the friend she was with and after driving away, Louie realized his mistake. “All of a sudden, he drives up to us in the car. He said, ‘Teresa, my son wanted to know why I didn’t ask for your number.’ I said, ‘I have your business card, I will text you.’ My girlfriend took my phone and was like, ‘I’m texting him right now.’” And the rest is history!
Teresa and Louie’s fairytale wedding
In August of 2022, Teresa married Louie in an extravagant ceremony in New Jersey, where she was joined by over 200 guests. With a stunning gown, a hairdo made up of 1,500 bobby pins and worth nearly $10,000 (no, really!), Giudice’s nuptials had people talking. However, another aspect of her marriage to Louie that sparked debate was their lack of a prenup. After appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen shortly before their wedding, Teresa revealed that they didn’t have plans to sign a prenup—much to Cohen’s dismay. She later confirmed this to be the case, citing “true love” as her reasoning.

Teresa and Louie’s trials and tribulations
Since getting together, Teresa and Louie’s relationship hasn’t been free of drama. In a 2022 episode of Real Housewives, Louie addressed rumors to the group that claimed he assaulted his former fiancée. “Yeah, I’ve had a couple of bad relationships, but I’m sure every guy at this table has a girl that’ll talk bad about you, and say something different or opposite of the truth,” he said on the show. “There’s no physical violence. There’s no truth to that. There’s a couple of very angry exes [who are] very thirsty for attention, so no,” he continued.
Despite the controversy surrounding their relationship, Teresa’s daughter has spoken out in favor of her stepdad. On an episode of her podcast, she shared, “My stepdad, Luis, is the most amazing stepfather. He treats my sisters and I like we are his own.”
