If you’re anything like us, then you’re probably on the edge of your seat waiting for the new season of Landman. Sadly though, there’s still a couple of weeks until the premiere, meaning that you can either rewatch Season 1 or watch these five shows like Landman. Not only are they filled with cowboys, but they are also just as loaded with drama, swoon worthy and fun. Read on to discover what they are.

‘Yellowstone’

Since Landman and Yellowstone are both Taylor Sheridan shows, it makes totally sense to watch one while you wait for the other. In this Montana centered saga, the Dutton family fights to the death for their beloved Yellowstone Ranch. Along with Yellowstone, there are several Dutton centered spinoffs, including 1883 and 1923. There are also several others in the works, most of which are expected to air at some point next year.

“The real impetus behind Yellowstone was always that if you’re the owner of an amount of land that vast, you’re kind of a king, and morality doesn’t apply,” Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in June of 2023. “What we do or don’t do can influence a market. So even though I wrote about John Dutton [Kevin Costner] having that kind of influence, I never really fathomed myself having it.”

‘Justified’

Trust us when we say the love for the hit Western show Justified is completely justified—pun obviously intended. In it, U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) returns to his hometown to try and fight the demons from his past. The show ran from 2010 to 2015, and won 2 Primetime Emmys along the way.

“That ending of the series years ago was such a special ending,” Olyphant told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023. “It was the Elmore Leonard material that started us, and then it was what [original Justified creator Graham Yost] invented. It was the father, it was the ex-wife. These were the things that made the stakes high, the things that made Raylan relatable, and not just cool. I think that’s what made it great television. “

Justified is available to stream on Hulu

‘Blue Ridge’

Blue Ridge is a new Western drama that follows Justin Wise (Johnathon Schaech) after he becomes the new sheriff and begins investigating a murder in a small town in the Blue Ridge mountains. There is only one season of the show, but a second is expected to premiere later this year.

“I want people to be entertained with Blue Ridge,” Schaech told the Digital Journal in January of 2024. “I want people to escape for 45 to 50 minutes into that world, where they can forget their troubles and sorrows, or maybe we can help them get through that.”

‘Friday Night Lights’

In Landman, a lot of the plot revolves around the local Texas high school football team, and the hit early 2000’s show Friday Night Lights is no different! In it, head coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) tries to lead high school football team the Dillon Panthers to victory. Friday Night Lights ran for five seasons, won two Primetime Emmys during that time and followed a 2004 film that had the same name and followed the same plot.

“My general attitude about Friday Night Lights is that it was a great movie with Billy Bob Thornton [who stars in both Landman and the 2004 film] and it was a great TV show,” Chandler said, per The Hollywood Reporter. “I never had more fun doing anything. They ended it at exactly the right time and in exactly the right way.”

‘The Waterfront’

Swap the oil business for the maritime, and you get Netflix’s The Waterfront. The plot follows the Buckly family as they try to rebuild their North Carolina fishing empire. Sadly, The Waterfront only has one season, but trust us when we say it’s worth the watch.

“When you read the pilot episode, you have a complicated cast of characters and they’re constantly being thrown into an environment that is uncomfortable for them. That’s always interesting to see—especially in a drama,” actor Jake Weary told US Weekly of the show in June of this year. “But the thing that I really loved about reading the pilot was that it was funny and there are these moments of levity that actually made me laugh out loud. That’s the element of the show that I think is really what’s going to be the thing that brings viewers back.”

The Waterfront is available to stream on Netflix.
