In 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley, known for their role on the reality television series Chrisley Knows Best, were convicted of tax evasion, conspiracy and fraud. Todd and Julie, who are parents to Savannah, Chase, Grayson, Kyle, Lindsie and Chloe Chrisley, were sentenced to 12 years and seven years respectively. In 2023, Todd’s sentence was reduced by two years with Julie’s reduced by 14 months, but after the couple served over two years of their sentences, President Donald Trump has pardoned them both. Here, see what this means for the Chrisley family and what the children have said about their parents’ release.

Donald Trump personally shared the news with Savannah Chrisley

In a video shared to X by Special Assistant to the President and Communications Advisor Margo Martin, President Trump is seen speaking on the phone with Todd and Julie’s daughter Savannah, who took on guardian responsibilities of her two youngest siblings, Grayson and Chloe, in her parents’ absence.

It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope we can do it by tomorrow,” Trump said. “I don’t know them but give them my regards and wish them a good life.”

Savannah reacts to her parents’ pardon

In February, Savannah revealed her plans to seek out Trump’s help in pardoning her parents, telling People, “I know that I am going through the proper channels to do so, and I’m going to bring as much awareness to it as possible because these things should not happen.” In response to Trump’s pardon, Savannah took to social media to share her reaction to the news.

I have shed so many tears,” the reality star and podcaster said in a video shared to Instagram. “The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both my parents,” she said. “So both my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow. And I still don’t believe it’s real.”

Lindsie Chrisley remarks on Todd and Julie’s release

Over the years, Lindsie has shared a tense relationship with her father, revealing in recent months on her podcast that she couldn’t remember the last time she visited him in prison. While she didn’t explicitly respond to news of her parents’ release, she shared a post to her Instagram story that read, “With God all things are possible.”

Kyle Chrisley, Todd’s estranged son, responds

Todd has also had a rocky relationship with his son from his first marriage, Kyle, but in spite of this, he remains hopeful for the future. He told E! News that he was ecstatic, giving credit to his sister Savannah. I know Savannah had been working at this for so long and she never gave up,” he said, “So I’m just grateful to her and to President Trump for making this happen for my dad and Julie.” As for the future of his and his dad’s relationship, Kyle said, “I’m going to remain hopeful that another reconciliation is possible.”

Grayson Chrisley shares his thanks

Grayson, who is currently in college, reposted the video of Trump calling Savannah to his Instagram story, with a caption that read “PRAISE GOD!!!! Thank you Mr. President for bringing my family back.”
