Over the last two years, Ella Langley has dominated the country music industry, and it’s nearly impossible to turn on the radio nowadays without hearing tracks like “Choosin’ Texas.” At just 27 years old, Langley’s rise to fame has been rapid, but her humble upbringing, strong family values and hardworking nature keep her down to earth—and it wasn’t all that long ago that she was hustling to get her name out there. Here, read all about Ella Langley’s life before fame.

Where is Ella Langley from?

Ella Langley hails from Hope Hull, Alabama, and it was the time spent around her family—who happen to be rather musical—that influenced her to pursue her dreams. “Almost everyone in my family sings and my grandpa played a ton of different instruments,” she shared with Montgomery Advertiser. “We’d sing together in church or my grandparents would invite the neighborhood over for big jam sessions. Nothing made me happier than sitting next to my grandpa on the piano bench, singing ‘Froggy Went A Courtin’.’ After my grandpa passed away, my dad had his guitar restrung for me.”

Once Ella finished high school, she joined a band, and while attending Auburn University, she got rather comfortable in the live music scene, playing shows throughout Alabama at bars. Two years into college, Langley said goodbye to the books and headed to Nashville, and playing music is really the only career she’s ever known.

“This is the only job I’ve ever had. I’ve only done this to make money. I did work at this weird trampoline park once in high school,” she shared on the Bobby Bones Show. “This is the only way I’ve ever paid my bills.”

Langley’s work ethic comes from a desire to succeed, and she opened up about it while chatting with HITS. “Bradley [Jordan], my manager, used to tell me, ‘If you want to sell out stadiums and arenas, you’ve got to have the Southeast and Texas.’ Even when I was playing clubs or opening for people like Randy Hauser and Koe Wetzel in a little church van with a U-Haul trailer, building out a band, one thing I respected about those [red dirt] acts was how hard they worked. In my life, I’ve always been the underdog. I had to really work, but I knew I’d get there. I’m used to things not working out, which is why I don’t like to leave things to chance.”

Ella Langley’s TikTok breakthrough and first viral song

Ella Langley shared her first video to TikTok back in 2020, and eventually, her song “If You Have To” went viral on the platform. Before long, she was signed to a label in Nashville, made her Grand Ole Opry debut, and recorded one of her most beloved tracks, “You Look Like You Love Me,” alongside Riley Green.

Since then, Langley has released additional hits like “Weren’t For the Wind” and, most recently, an album titled Dandelion. Regardless of her newfound fame, the songstress remains loyal to her roots. “Staying close to family and reading my Bible are what keeps me humble and grounded,” she shared with Southern Living
