Alfred Hitchcock Film Collection to Stream On Netflix: Read Everything We Know Here!
Get ready for some heart-racing movie nights this summer!
Alfred Hitchcock is known for his thrilling, suspenseful, unsettling films, and now, in the era of streaming, a few of his most iconic flicks will be right at your fingertips. This June, Netflix is welcoming a handful of Hitchcock’s most gripping films including The Birds (1963), Family Plot (1976), Vertigo (1958), Rear Window (1954), The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) and Frenzy (1972). In addition to Hitchcock’s films, fans can enjoy a handful of the films that were inspired by the director’s work like Barbarian (2022) and Us (2019).
Additionally, Netflix will also stream 2012’s Hitchcock, starring Anthony Hopkins as the film’s namesake. The movie, directed by Sacha Gervasi, tells the story of the famed filmmaker as he brought one of his most revered films, Psycho, to life, as well as the effect it had on the relationship between he and his wife, portrayed by Helen Mirren. Want to get out of the house for your Hitchcock fix? If you live in proximity to New York City, you’re in luck! Beginning on May 16, New York’s Paris Theater will present “HITCH! The Original Cinema Influencer.” For six weeks, up until June 29, the Paris Theater in collaboration with New York Film Critics Circle will screen over 50 films, 36 of which were directed by Hitchcock himself. In addition to works by the famed director, this showcase of cinema will also honor several other films that pay homage to his work in various ways. There’s no shortage of Hitchcock around here, that’s for sure
“From Hitchcock’s early English films like Blackmail to his Hollywood masterpieces such as Psycho and The Birds, the series will highlight his evolving technique and influence on popular culture and future filmmakers,” Netflix said in a release. “35 films in this series will have showings in 35mm, including Hitchcock classics like Rear Window, Vertigo and North by Northwest to enduring masterpieces like Francois Truffaut’s The Bride Wore Black and Henri-Georges Clouzot’s Diabolique.” We can hardly wait!
The essence of this influential filmmaker will surely be alive and well at New York’s Paris Theater. Not only is it the city’s longest-running arthouse theater, but it has played a part in the industry for decades as countless films have premiered within its walls. What better place to dive head first into the works of the so-called Master of Suspense?
