What to expect during Shaun Cassidy’s new tour

Fans of the former teenage heartthrob are in for a treat if they head to one of his many The Road to Us performances. Cassidy told Billboard he will be debuting songs that were written specifically for the show.

“They are songs that underscore a story I might be telling about me or my family or about the audience, or about an experience I had back in the day or am having now,” he shared with the magazine.

The singer’s last album, Wasp, was released in 1980. Though there are no current plans to record the 20-something new songs he’s written, Cassidy admitted to Billboard that he hasn’t completely ruled out the idea.

Those who are looking for a bit of nostalgia can also hopefully expect to hear original hits like “Morning Girl, “That’s Rock ‘n’ Roll” and his cover of “Da Doo Ron Ron.”

After stepping out of the world of music for decades to focus on writing and producing for television, Cassidy is looking forward to this experience.

“‘The Road To Us’ is first about fun, then about connection—a connection I feel is more important now than ever,” the singer shared in an email blast, according to Remind Magazine. “Be it in a concert hall or at the kitchen table, bringing people together—to laugh, cry, or blast out some hit songs—is like rocket fuel for the soul. I can’t think of a better reason to take the ultimate road trip!”

Though he comes from a family of performers—mom Shirley Jones (TV/film star), dad Jack Cassidy (actor) and half-brother David Cassidy (actor and musician)—touring is a rather new endeavor for him. He told Billboard that despite his musical success as a teenager, he was too busy working on The Hardy Boys to be able to hit the road.

He did, however, find success with his 2020-2024 concert tour The Magic of a Midnight Sky and also seems to be making up for lost time with the huge commitment in store later this year!
