This Netflix Western unites stars you'll recognize instantly from shows like 'Game of Thrones,' 'The X-Files' and more
Love westerns? Gripping stories with strong female leads? Look no further: The Abandons is about to be your next binge. Hitting Netflix in December, this new series tells the story of two widowed women, portrayed by Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, at odds with one another in 1854’s Washington Territory. Headey plays the part of Fiona Nolan, who fiercely leads her family of outcasts and orphans as they make a life for themselves on her cattle ranch. Anderson brings to life Constance Van Ness, a wealthy woman who inherited a mining fortune from her late husband and is willing to do whatever she must to hold onto it. If these two leading ladies weren’t enticing enough, allow us to introduce you to the rest of the cast of The Abandons—you probably recognize a few of them!

Both leads of this show starred in series with major cult followings—and fans can likely expect that Headey will bring some of her Cersei Lannister grit to her latest role. The actress starred in Game of Thrones for years before the show concluded in 2019, and since then, she’s continued filling her resume. She’s lent her voice to a few different animated series and has recently acted in films like Normal (2025) and 9 Bullets (2022). We can’t wait to see what she brings to this role!
