All about ‘Kevin Costner Presents: The First Christmas’
Sharing this story in a new way is an exciting venture for Costner, who opened up about this project recently with People. “It’s a story I think we all think we know,” he shared. “I think maybe some of us know a lot, maybe you know just a little, maybe you’re a believer, maybe you’re a cynic or maybe—hopefully—you’re just curious to find out the real story that’s behind the tradition.” The actor even went on to open up about what this time of year means to him, saying, “You actually hope that you’re home.” He continued, “I have a professional life that sometimes takes me away, but I rarely have been. So, the familiarity with what we do is comforting.”

How Costner’s faith shapes his projects
Over the years, the actor has been open about his faith, sharing that he was raised Baptist. Being such a major part of his life, it is something he’s woven into his projects over time—one of those being Horizon: An American Saga, which chronicled the expansion into the American West. “Faith is what guided people out there to the unknown,” the actor told The Christian Post. “They just leaned on it. There was this promise but, you know, the promise was not enough. You had to go on faith, and people brought their religion with them west.” He continued, “I grew up a Baptist, and church has always been a part of my life, my grandmother, the whole thing, so I don’t mind it bleeding into a movie.”
What has Kevin Costner been doing since ‘Yellowstone’?

It was back in 2018 when Costner originated the role of John Dutton in the neo-western series Yellowstone, beloved for his portrayal of the powerful yet vulnerable cowboy. Though his character was ultimately killed off after a dispute with show creator Taylor Sheridan, many still remember Costner as John Dutton.
Since wrapping Yellowstone, Costner has poured his heart into passion projects Horizon: An American Saga—Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. Costner has also brought his signature storytelling magic to Kevin Costner’s The West, sharing the rich history of America’s frontier. Whether he’s bringing unforgettable characters to life or sharing stories that touch our hearts, Costner reminds us why faith, family and great storytelling matter so much—especially during the most wonderful time of the year. This Christmas season, we get to experience the greatest story ever told through fresh eyes, and that’s a gift worth celebrating.
