Now, the beloved story is making its way to Netflix in the upcoming book-to-screen adaptation of the same name. The six-part series follows Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet as she and her four sisters deal with the pressure to marry well in 19th-century England. Then enters Mr. Darcy (Jack Lowden), a wealthy, prickly man with whom she has a mutual disdain before they delve into a romance.
“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” screenwriter Dolly Alderton told Netflix. “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy — it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”
Alongside Corrin and Lowden, the series also stars Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet and Hollie Avery as Kitty Bennet.
Although there is not yet a specific release date, Pride and Prejudice is set to premiere sometime in fall 2026, so keep an eye out for the adaptation.
‘East of Eden’
On October 1, fans of the 1952 published novel will have a chance to see the story unravel on the screen in the Netflix limited series. The story follows the struggle between good and evil, told through the stories of two families: the Trasks and the Hamiltons.
“It needs to be epic and intimate,” writer Zoe Kazan explained. “It needs to be as personal for me as it was for him [author John Steinbeck], even though he’s literally writing about his family.”
The series will star Florence Pugh as Cathy Ames, the woman who weds Adam Trask (Christopher Abbott) and becomes the mother of their twin sons. However, it isn’t long before Cathy’s manipulative and destructive nature is revealed. Meanwhile, Samuel (Ciarán Hinds) and Liza Hamilton (Anita Hegh) are raising their hardworking family nearby, contrasting the lives of the Trask family.
The upcoming adaptation of East of Eden will be available to watch only on Netflix on October 1, 2026.
‘Guarding Stars’
Enjoy this romantic holiday film this fall, based on the book The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. Guarding Stars follows the no-nonsense bodyguard, Hannah Brooks (Leighton Meester), who is hired to protect the charming action star, Jack Stapleton (Jared Padalecki), over the holiday season. What begins as a simple assignment soon turns into the unraveling of secrets and flying of sparks between Hannah and Jack.
“It’s been amazing to work closely with Katherine so far and to see her so excited about moving her witty story about a no-nonsense bodyguard [for] an A-list actor into the holiday season,” director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum shared. “It makes the most gorgeous backdrop for the sparks that fly between them to be even brighter.”
