Miku Martineau: Honestly, these guys are so great. I was so impressed by you guys during the rowing training. They took it so seriously. We had such great coaches, and they killed it on the boat and it was so amazing to see. I didn’t know anything about rowing going into it, so learning all of the technicalities of it and how precise it is and how much coordination and teamwork it takes, I was just blown away by you guys. So I think they could be rowers in real life.
Kyle Clark: I think Sam could. Sam rips.
Sam Braun: That’s so sweet because when Kyle and I were rowing pairs, he started off in front [of the boat], and then as soon as we swapped and I went in front, I tipped the boat like six times, and we kept falling into the water. So I don’t know.
Kyle Clark: You really like long-distance running and your form’s good—you’d be a good one. There’s some good rowers [on the show]. We learned how to row in, like four weeks, so we didn’t have a ton of time, but everyone wanted to do a good job and do their best, so people were really locked in.
WW: Which of you would actually make the best coxswain?
Miku Martineau: I would hope [me], but in the show, Teagan has been a competitive single sculling rower. Becoming a cox, it’s still in the world of rowing, but she knew nothing about it. She’s also learning how to become a coxswain, how to become a team player, how to lead a boat and how to do calls because you’re also switched on positions. They would also kill it.
Sam Braun: Miku is so good though because it really takes a special person to gather eight boys in a boat and kind of control them, and I was so impressed with your presence in the boat and on set, too. Miku was such a great person to have around.
Woman’s World: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your character if you could?
Miku Martineau: It’s okay to make mistakes, and I would give that advice to any young person.
Kyle Clark: Trust the process and where you’re at. You don’t have to have it all together right now.
Sam Braun: [I’d tell Josh to] take the pressure off his shoulders a little bit and just take a breath. It’s okay.
Kyle Clark: Yeah, they’re figuring it out.
