To learn what exactly happened in the episode, keep scrolling.

Beulah Jackson’s backstory is revealed

Dutton Ranch Episode 7 opens with a young Beulah (Rebeca Robles) heading out for a night on the town with friends. At a local bar, she meets a handsome young man and there’s an immediate spark. The two flirt, dance and quickly become inseparable before eventually leaving together.

But Beulah’s father’s employee, Marciano, is uneasy about the situation. Suspicious of the stranger, he follows the pair to the man’s home. Moments later, Beulah emerges battered and bruised, making it painfully clear that something horrific has happened. Unwilling to confront the truth, Beulah insists Marciano tell her father she was injured after falling off the bar’s mechanical bull. He reluctantly agrees, and the episode’s opening credits roll.

The episode then shifts to the 10-Petal anniversary celebration, but before the hour ends, viewers return to young Beulah for one final and devastating moment. This time, she’s in a bathroom staring at a positive pregnancy test, forced to confront the life-altering consequences of her assault. When Marciano finds her, he takes her to the home of the man responsible, seemingly preparing for a confrontation. But what happens next is shocking: before anyone else can act, Beulah pulls out a gun and shoots her attacker dead.

It’s a stunning ending to the episode—one that not only delivers a major shock, but also finally provides long-awaited insight into Beulah’s past and the trauma that shaped the woman viewers know in the present day.

Rob-Will’s father is revealed

Before that explosive final scene, tensions boil over between Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) and his mother, Beulah. Confronting her directly, Rob-Will makes it clear that he believes the ranch rightfully belongs to him. In his eyes, as the only biological Jackson, he—not his adopted brother Joaquin—is the rightful heir to the family legacy. The confrontation escalates when Rob-Will bitterly reads part of Beulah’s anniversary speech back to her, highlighting the resentment that has clearly been building for years.

“Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba) might not be a Jackson by birth, but he’s known no other family, and I’ve seen him as nothing other than my own flesh and blood. Today is momentous for him, for me and for the legacy of the 10-Petal.”

The moment underscores just how deep the divide between the brothers has become—and how much Rob-Will feels threatened by Joaquin’s place in the family.

Beulah is clearly shaken by Rob-Will’s confrontation, but in the end, she gives him exactly what he wants. In a stunning moment at the party, she announces that Rob-Will—not Joaquin—will be the one to run the ranch moving forward. But the episode leaves viewers with one major unanswered question: Who is Joaquin’s father?

What we do know now is that Rob-Will’s father was the man who assaulted Beulah, a revelation that adds an entirely new layer to their fractured relationship. Suddenly, Beulah’s coldness toward Rob-Will begins to make far more sense. Throughout the series, she has often seemed harsh, distant and deeply resentful toward him, and this episode suggests that he may represent a painful chapter of her life she has never truly escaped.

That doesn’t excuse Rob-Will’s cruelty or ruthless behavior, but it does make the tension between mother and son feel far more tragic—and far more complicated—than viewers may have realized.

Dutton Ranch airs every Friday on Paramount+.
