‘Ransom Canyon’: Josh Duhamel’s New Netflix Western Has It All—Drama, Love and Cowboys
Love, betrayal, and three Texas ranches—this new Netflix drama is about to be your next obsession
Ever since Yellowstone and the shows that fall within the Dutton universe revived the western genre, there’s been no shortage of hunky cowboys, ranch romances and cattleman conflicts filling the airwaves—and Ransom Canyon is another one joining the western ranks you won’t want to miss. Starring familiar faces like James Brolin, Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, read all about the new modern-day Wild West series headed to Netflix.
What is ‘Ransom Canyon’ about?
Ransom Canyon takes viewers down to the Lone Star State and follows three ranches and the families who run them. There’s the Double K Ranch, led by Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel), a man committed to continuing the traditions of the land he’s built his life on and willing to do whatever is necessary to prevent any external forces from threatening that. The Fuller Ranch is led by Cap, played by James Brolin. Though Cap’s ranch was once successful, after the death of his son in Afghanistan, the place has deteriorated from what it once was—but the addition of a new foreman just might be the key to turning things around. Lastly, there’s the Bar W Ranch, run by the well-educated Davis Collins, played by Eoin Macken. His ambitious desires for the future of his ranch contrast that of the traditional Staten Kirkland, making for a conflict that will seep into other areas of their lives.

Who will star in ‘Ransom Canyon’?
In addition to James Brolin, Josh Duhamel and Eoin Macken, the three men at the forefront of these competing ranches, the Ransom Canyon cast will also include Minka Kelly, known by most for her role in the hit drama series Friday Night Lights. Kelly will bring to life Quinn, a concert pianist who has made her way back to Ransom Canyon and has captured the affections of both Staten and Davis—another point of contention between the two.

Garrett Wareing is Lucas, a man employed at the Double K Ranch whose dreams span beyond the small town he finds himself in. Andrew Liner also stars as Reid, the town quarterback who’s hiding behind his cocky exterior.

Why ‘Ransom Canyon’ will be your next Western obsession
“At its core, Ransom Canyon isn’t just a town. It’s an idea. It’s the painful longing for your first love. It’s the burning desire to protect your family. It’s cowboys and lovers, grifters and thieves. Lust, deceit, heartache, home…Ransom has it all,” says show creator, writer and executive producer April Blair to Tudum. “I think people are going to fall in love with this little slice of Texas and the dramas and romances that we created there.”
