The scoop on Ruth’s Chris sweet potato casserole

This casserole is made using mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, vanilla extract, pecans and other ingredients. Once the filling is combined, it’s placed in a baking pan and smoothed into an even layer. The pecan crust mixture is then sprinkled on top before the dish is baked until golden brown. While it’s unclear when this side was added to the menu, it’s a customer-favorite thanks to its rich sweetness and velvety texture.

Is it better to boil or bake sweet potatoes for sweet potato casserole?

Preparing a copycat version of this casserole is simple and starts with cooking the sweet potatoes. The official Ruth’s Chris recipe doesn’t state whether to boil or bake them, so the choice is yours. But make sure the spuds are fork-tender.
