For a cowboy-inspired twist on a comfort favorite, none other than Taylor Sheridan shares his mac and cheese recipe. The Yellowstone creator and writer uses an original cowboy seasoning from his spice line known as Four Sixes to add a peppery and pungent kick to this dish. A topping of buttery-seasoned panko breadcrumbs gives this mac and cheese a crunchy layer that perfectly contrasts the gooey interior. It’s a high chance you have all of the ingredients for this recipe on hand. So, saddle up and make this Yellowstone-approved cowboy mac and cheese recipe!

The scoop on Sheridan’s cowboy mac and cheese

On Four Sixes website, you’ll find a cowboy mac and cheese recipe that combines classic ingredients, such as elbow macaroni, cheddar cheese and milk, with Sheridan’s signature cowboy seasoning. The seasoning contains a blend of chipotle pepper, dried garlic, chili pepper and other spices. So, it infuses rich and creamy mac and cheese with a smoky-savory flavor. (You can buy the seasoning on the Four Sixes website and at select retailers.)

Easy trick to a crunchy mac and cheese topping

Breadcrumbs on top of mac and cheese are a guaranteed way to get a crispy, golden brown crust. To enhance this topping, Four Sixes’ recipe calls for mixing panko breadcrumbs, melted butter and the cowboy seasoning together before sprinkling it onto the casserole. The butter helps the panko toast nicely and stick to the mac and cheese as you’re serving it.
