‘Tis the season for sweet treats! To help get people in the holiday spirit, fast food chain McDonald’s is bringing back one of its special yearly offerings that people look forward to every year—the holiday pie. Keep reading to find out more about this fan favorite and when it will be back on the menu once again.

What makes McDonald’s Holiday Pie a fan favorite?

McDonald’s baked apple pie isn’t the only iconic treat that the fast food chain offers. There’s a seasonal pie option making a comeback that already has customers excited: the holiday pie.

This beloved baked item debuted in 1999, according to Reader’s Digest, and its popularity has remained for decades. In fact, many fans eagerly anticipate its temporary return every holiday season.

Like the long-lasting apple pie, this treat has a delicious, buttery pie crust, but the similarities stop there. The holiday pie’s crust is sugar-glazed and topped with colorful rainbow sprinkles. Inside, the delights continue with a creamy custard filling. Yum!

Fans eager to get their hands on the festive pie won’t have to wait much longer, as the treat returns to the McDonald’s menu on November 15. But two obstacles could make it a bit tougher to try it for yourself.

First, the holiday pie will only be available at participating restaurants in select cities. These include Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angeles, Memphis, New York City, Seattle and St. Louis.

Is your city not on the list? You may still be in luck! One Instagrammer and his followers have mentioned there have been sightings of the pie in other states, reports Food & Wine. Some restaurants in Arkansas, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Virginia have reportedly advertised the pie despite not being in the “official” list.

While the locations of the pie’s roll-out remain a bit of a mystery, one thing has not: these special treats are only available for a limited time. Often, they sell out by the end of the year—if not sooner—depending on supply.

The price of the 260-calorie pie is still unknown, but Reader’s Digest shares it might be a cheap treat. In the past, the holiday pie was priced at $1.19.

Why fans can’t stop talking about McDonald’s Holiday Pie return

Though the holiday pies aren’t on sale yet, that hasn’t stopped some fans from sharing their excitement on X. “McDonald’s has holiday pies again…the world is kinda healing,” wrote one user.

Another person happily emphasized how the temporary offering continues to be a menu highlight. “Holiday pie is the best thing they ever created,” they wrote in response to another user declaring the Chicken Big Mac is McDonald’s best item.

With a little bit of humor, one X user joked that the treat has captured her husband’s heart. “I’m a little concerned that my husband loves McDonald’s holiday pies more than his family,” she quipped.

If you’re as ready as these fans to satisfy your sweet tooth, keep checking the app or website of your local McDonald’s this month to see if the holiday pie is up for grabs. But don’t hesitate once they hit the menu—these delicious treats are sure to go fast!
