3-Ingredient Strawberry Chocolate Fudge Recipe Is a Boardwalk-Worthy Sweet Treat
This ingredient is key for making a prep-easy fudge base in your microwave
In my book, a trip to the boardwalk isn’t complete without grabbing sweet treats like chocolate fudge. Each square offers a bite of sweet, decadent and soft bliss. When I can’t pop into my favorite boardwalk candy shop, making fudge at home is the next best thing. Plus, it’s simple to make, only requiring three ingredients. Adding fresh fruit like strawberries is another twist that adds more sweetness to the fudge. Here’s how to make strawberry chocolate fudge as a treat that will transport you to a seaside confectionery within the first bite!
What is fudge?
Fudge is a solid treat that’s made with butter, sugar and milk as the base. This mixture is heated before it’s poured and cooled in a pan. Once set, the fudge is cut into smaller pieces and enjoyed. The novelty of fudge is that it comes in various flavors and is a staple at candy shops on boardwalks and elsewhere. Fudge reportedly dates back to the 1880s, making it a treat that’s stood the test of time. One fudge flavor that’s hard to top is chocolate as it’s rich and easy to replicate at home using a surprise ingredient.
Shortcut ingredient for tasty chocolate fudge
Canned chocolate frosting doesn’t have to only be used for cakes. It turns out that this ingredient is the shortcut to creating fuss-free homemade fudge. The frosting already contains fat and sugar, which will sweeten the mixture and help it set into a solid fudge. Even better, you can microwave the frosting with chocolate chips to whip up a smooth, fridge-ready fudge base in five minutes!

3-Ingredient Strawberry Chocolate Fudge
Ingredients:
- 2⅔ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (16 oz.) can of chocolate frosting
- 8 whole strawberries, green tops removed
Directions:
- Yield: 4 servings
- Line rectangular baking dish with parchment paper.
- Place chocolate chips and chocolate frosting in large, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave 5 minutes; stir every 20 to 25 seconds to prevent mixture from burning. Once chocolate chips are melted, stir well and pour into dish. Spread mixture into even layer.
- Stick strawberries into base, creating 2 rows with 4 strawberries each. Chill uncovered in fridge for at least 4 hours or until mixture is fully hardened.
- Remove from fridge and carefully lift fudge out of pan. Cut around the strawberries to create squares of fudge. Serve and enjoy!
- Note: You can customize this recipe by topping the solid fudge pieces with other berries, chopped nuts or melted chocolate.
Best way to store homemade fudge
To keep the fudge fresh, layer each piece between a small sheet of wax paper in an airtight container. This will prevent the pieces from sticking together and keep excess air out. Using this method, the fudge will last two to three weeks in the fridge and up to three months in the freezer.
