Pet care company Rover.com recently released results from its  12th annual Top Pet Names Report revealing trends from the last year. The company analyzed millions of user-submitted pet names provided by pet parents on the website.

“The pet names we choose are a look into our latest cultural obsessions and our sources of joy,” said Nicole Ellis, Certified Professional Trainer and Rover Pet People Panelist. “This year’s report reads like the magazines we used to love flipping through—the names are equal parts tabloid-worthy and total comfort food.”

Everyone’s favorite cartoon canine

Even if you don’t spend a ton of time with little ones, you’ve likely heard of Bluey, the juggernaut animated series adored by kids and parents of all ages. Inspired by the main character in a family of blue heelers, the name Bluey spiked 58 percent for dogs and even for cats by a whopping 122 percent, snagging the number one trending spot overall for both.

Celebrity namesakes

Other household names that made headway included Taylor Swift (up 461 percent for dogs and 459 percent for cats). As far as dogs, other names that made headway were Jisoo (up 361 percent), Jane Fonda (up 111 percent), Normani (up 61 percent) and Beyonce (up 28 percent).

In memory of the late actress Shelley Duvall, the name Shelley for cats skyrocketed  71 percent. More specifically, Shelley Dupaw appeared on the list for the first time.

Creature comforts

Much like our most beloved foods, pets bring us comfort and joy, so it’s no surprise that for cats, the trend this year was Provolone, up more than 500 percent. Next is a three-way tie between Casserole, Twinkie and Babybel which were all up 84 percent. Not far behind was Burger, up 83 percent this year. Appropriately, Loaf was up by 47 percent.

For dogs, Calzone, Chive and Provolone were all up 211 percent compared to last year. Poutine, Babybel, Pastrami and Tempeh then tied with an increase of 111 percent.

Puns for days

Who doesn’t love a good play on words? Clever cat names making an appearance this year include Toby Meowguire, Reba Meowcntire and Meowy Poppins. Dog parents came up with Bob Barker, Sarah Jessica Barker and Dolly Barkton
