With some ribbon and a few baubles, you can transform tree scraps into works of art. Here, find even more easy tricks to take each greenery and flowers from simple to stunning this Christmas season.
A cheery mini Christmas tree

Tucking a mini Christmas tree and colorful seasonal snippets in a bright red mixing bowl creates a festive display that’s pretty enough to gift to a friend or loved one! “A mixing bowl serves as an unexpected base for the mini evergreen tree,” says floral pro Jan Johnsen, author of Gardentopia and Floratopia. “It’s a surefire way to spread holiday cheer.” To do: Pop a potted mini spruce tree (from a garden center) inside a bowl; top the soil with nuts, berries and pine cones. Give full sun; water if soil is dry.
From scraps to stunning

It’s amazing what a quick trip to your local Christmas tree farm can accomplish! Piecing together a beautiful display of holiday greenery is easier than you think, and all you need is some scraps and a jaunt to the dollar store. To do: Head to the Christmas tree farm or home improvement store location and ask for cuttings from the sold trees. Arrange on your tabletop around three pillared candles of your choice. Pro tip! Opt for electric candles to ease any concerns about hot wax.
A striking centerpiece

“For a luxe and lovely display that’s sure to perk up a buffet or entryway table, simply pair a low-growing amaryllis with a wreath of pine and holly,” says Johnsen. To do: Start by adding pebbles to a small pot, then nestle in an amaryllis bulb (the pebbles help the bulb stay put until it roots). Surround with 2″ of peat moss. Next, bend a length of floral wire into a circle and add a small handful of fresh-picked evergreens and berries to the wire using smaller snippets of wire and rest atop the pot. For the best results, be sure to keep the bulb moist and give it bright sunlight.
An eye-catching floral focal point

All it takes to elevate a single-stem amaryllis plant is a handful of grassy snippets and a few holiday ornaments. To do: Pick up an amaryllis growing kit (at garden centers) and fill pot with included peat moss or potting mix, then nestle in the bulb. Drop the pot into a slightly larger red pail. Cut branches of scotch broom to about 12″ and tuck into the gap between the pot and pail to form a tall “collar.” Wrap jute around the collar several times and tie in a bow. To finish, tuck mini ornaments inside. Place in indirect sunlight; keep bulb moist.
