Scared Dog Stranded on Roof Can’t Help Showering His Firefighter Rescuer With Puppy Kisses

A Maine firefighter rushed to the rescue after he received a call from a local about a scared dog who was trapped on top of his owner’s roof. Thankfully, the firefighter was able to get the pup back inside — but not before the grateful doggo had smothered him in smooches.

On Sunday, May 27, a fluffy brown and white husky found himself in a ruff situation. The curious pooch maneuvered his way through an upstairs window and onto the roof of his dog parent’s house with no way of getting back inside. Once neighbors spotted the daring dog wandering the roof, they immediately called the Wells Police Department for help. One worried onlooker even stayed with the canine until first responders arrived. Needless to say, this furry pup caused quite the stir.

“This beautiful dog managed to get out onto the roof of his home through an upstairs window,” the Wells Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. “We received numerous calls but one concerned citizen, Phil Burke, discovered him early on and notified us. Another awesome citizen stood by with the dog until we could arrive on scene!”

Using a ladder, Fire Capt. Jeff Nawfel climbed up to save the day. The poor pooch was clearly thankful for his rescue — so much so that he covered Nawfel in sweet puppy “kisses.” Watch the video below to see Nawfel’s heartwarming rescue.

Although we’re still unsure of who this pup’s owners are (or where they were when this incident took place), we are more than glad the Wells Police Department was there to help.
