Kind Bus Driver Braids the Hair of Little Girl Who Lost Her Mom to Rare Illness

Tags:

After 11-year-old Isabella Pieri lost her mom to a rare illness two years ago, she needed a helping hand with her hair. So a kind bus driver lent the young girl both of her helping hands.

Isabella’s dad, Philip Pieri, originally had his daughter’s hair cut short into a crew cut after his wife passed away. The Utah father explained in an interview with KSL TV that didn’t know how to maintain or care for longer locks. Of course, Isabella’s hair soon started to grow back.

The young student of couldn’t help but notice when her bus driver, Tracy Dean, stepped up to fix a classmate’s braid that had fallen out of place. So Isabella asked Tracy if she could help her out with her hair, too. She didn’t know that Tracy would soon be braiding her hair every single day.

As it turns out, Tracy has a pretty amazing reason for this continuous act of kindness, as she explained to reporters at KSL TV.

“Seven years ago, I found out I had breast cancer and that’s one of the things that went through my head is ‘Who’s gonna take care of my little ones?'” Tracy said. “Not that my husband couldn’t do it, but that’s what moms do. They do their kids’ hair.”

It may seem like a small gesture to do someone’s hair, but for this little girl navigating life without her mother, it means so much.

“It makes me feel like she’s a mom pretty much to me, and it makes me really excited for the next day to see what she does,” said Isabella.
