WeightWatchers Clinic: Insights Into the GLP-1 Telehealth Provider With an Exclusive Brand Interview!
Coaching and effective weight loss medication sets members up for long term success
While you may know WeightWatchers as a service that helps individuals improve their health through counseling and their famous Points Program, the brand now features WeightWatchers Clinic. This service provides certain GLP-1 weight loss medications for those who qualify, in addition to the benefits of the standard WeightWatchers membership. Its prices and services are competitive; however, we conducted mystery shopper calls and found it difficult to get pricing and other information until we paid for an initial consultation.
Woman’s World spoke to a representative of the telehealth provider about how the company is combining over 60 years of weight loss experience with effective GLP-1 medication to create comprehensive weight health support.

WeightWatchers Clinicians decide what treatment is best
WeightWatchers Clinic starts with a five-minute quiz to discuss your health history and to see if you’re a candidate to begin a weight loss journey with medication. If you qualify, you will meet your assigned board-certified clinicians to assemble a treatment plan. With the help of this clinician, they will explore which options work best for you depending on your medical history and insurance coverage.
You begin the program after analyzing your insurance coverage to find the right cost-effective weight loss medication. Your assigned doctor is also there to answer any questions or address concerns you may have. A brand representative told us: “WeightWatchers Clinic Clinicians work with the member to find the best medication solution for their needs.”
Combined with the WeightWatchers program, the goal is to set you up for long-term weight loss success. WeightWatchers Clinic also provides daily nutrition targets, activity goals, food lists and an incredible support system of coaches to help keep you accountable on your medical weight loss journey. WeightWatchers Clinic members lose, on average, 15% of their body weight after at least 26 weeks.
WeightWatchers Vs. WeightWatchers Clinic (Vs. Weight Watchers)
Much of the WeightWatchers Clinic program is the same as the standard WeightWatchers program. However, members of the WW Clinic program have all the benefits of the Points Program and Workshops membership, plus GLP-1 medication and a personalized care team. WeightWatchers uses the same app for recipes, trackers, tips, expert WeightWatchers coaching and advice from members. Everyone at the company we spoke to also wanted to make sure we called it WeightWatchers as one word, and not “Weight Watchers” (even though you’ll find it both ways on the site).
WeightWatchers Clinic combines dedicated care team and prescription medication
Like other telehealth providers, WeightWatchers Clinic provides name-brand GLP-1s. The service will offer GLP-1 medication for those who qualify after receiving a prescription from one of its licensed medical providers.
When asked what medication WeightWatchers Clinic offers, a brand representative said: “Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Trulicity, Rybelsus, Saxenda, Metformin, Naltrexone, Buproprion, compounded Semaglutide. All under the guidance of a clinician who determines eligibility.”
Because of the changing market and increasing demand, Weight Watchers Clinic now offers compounded semaglutide:
“In October (2024), we introduced compounded semaglutide into its offering, broadening eligible members’ access to clinical weight management interventions.
However, while Weight Watchers Clinic is in all 50 states, “compounded semaglutide is not available in California, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama because of regulations around compounded medication,” according to the brand representative.

- Zepbound
- Ozempic
- Mounjaro

Costs depend on the prescription and insurance
WeightWatchers Clinic memberships start with a $49 consultation fee for the first month and increase to $84 per month after that. This includes any non-GLP-1 medication (Naltrexone-Bupropion), clinician care, insurance coordination and benefits of the standard WeightWatchers membership.
If approved by your doctor, GLP-1 medication costs will depend on your insurance coverage. However, without insurance, medications like Wegovy can cost $1,349.20 per month. That said, WeightWatchers Clinic now offers more affordable compounded semaglutide if you qualify. Pricing for compounded semaglutide starts at $129 for the first month and $189 for each month after. This included membership and consultation fees. That said, WeightWatchers Clinic includes non-GLP-1 medications in the cost of membership.

Sequence turned into WeightWatchers Clinic after acquisition
While the WeightWatchers brand has been in the weight loss world for over 60 years, its GLP-1 medication program is still very new: “WeightWatchers Clinic was initially a startup called Sequence, started in 2021 by Remi Cossart and Calvin Young, both former founders who had experience working together at Google.”
Woman’s World recently spoke to Dr. Spencer Nadolsky about his involvement with Sequence, which eventually became WeightWatchers Clinic:
“I was the medical director for Sequence (now WeightWatchers Clinic) at the beginning. We started that company. Once acquired, then I became medical director for all of WeightWatchers.”
Remi Cossart and Calvin Young “both were excited about the potential for GLP-1s to revolutionize how we approach weight health. Sequence grew rapidly and was acquired by WeightWatchers in April of 2023.” according to the brand representative.
GLP-1s: A safe and effective medication according to WeightWatchers
As WeightWatchers continued to evolve with science, GLP-1 medication became hard to ignore: “We saw that weight loss was not purely a matter of willpower, but very much influenced by each person’s individual biology. We learned that GLP-1 medications are effective and safe.”
Because of this WeightWatchers bought Sequence and turned it into WeightWatchers Clinic “We wanted to do what was best for our members, which included acquiring Sequence and offering weight loss medications alongside our comprehensive behavioral solution.” according to the brand representative.
WeightWatchers is LegitScript certified
WeightWatchers is a verified pharmacy and telemedicine website through the LegitScript certification process. This ensures that companies comply with all applicable laws. Payment service providers may also require their telehealth providers to be LegitScript certified.
WeightWatchers Clinic and insurance
Once WeightWatchers Clinic approves you for the program, it will contact your insurance provider. Every case will be different and several factors determine whether or not your insurance will cover GLP-1 medication. When asked if WeightWatchers accepts insurance, the brand says: “For medication, yes (with the exception of compounded semaglutide).” However, “Members are unable to use insurance to pay for the membership fee.”
WeightWatchers says you can also make insurance claims after you pay:
“The member can always opt in to an initial batch of prior authorizations (PAs) for the highest-efficacy available GLP-1s, and then, throughout their member journey, they can request exploratory PAs in cases where their coverage changes or expires.
WeightWatchers offers an excellent customer service experience
WeightWatchers addresses many questions and concerns via its FAQ section. For all other inquiries, the online GLP-1 prescriber offers its members a 24/7 chat feature to speak to an agent. Telephone support is also available Monday-Friday from 9 AM – 5 PM EST at 1-800-651-6000. Email support is no longer offered.
Online experience
The first thing I noticed when I explored the website is its pop-up ads are a bit intrusive. I then had to dig around the website for a few minutes to find the contact page. When I did find it, I had to search a bit longer through FAQs before I found a toll-free number.
I did a test sign-up during my mystery shopper inquiries. During my first sign-up, WeightWatchers Clinic rejected me from its GLP-1 program. I did another sign-up and added that I had high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes to my medical history. This approved me for GLP-1 medication. With med spas and some websites offering GLP-1 medication without screening you or getting a doctor’s prescription, this helped give me peace of mind.
Customer experience
During my mystery shopper call, I waited for 20 minutes until I got through to someone. She was very friendly but warned me immediately that she couldn’t provide that much information. More specifically, she said I needed to first go on the website, qualify for the WeightWatchers Clinic program and get a virtual consultation (with a $49 membership fee) before I could ask about pricing. That said, WeightWatchers Clinic also offers a 24/7 online chat feature, but that also requires you to sign up as a member and pay.

Weight Weights Clinic typically ships GLP-1s in a few days
After signing up and getting your initial consultation with a WeightWatchers Clinic clinician, the team will evaluate what the best medication is for you depending on your insurance and needs. The brand says: “Our team of insurance coordinators helps members get insurance approval for their medications” and “also helps call pharmacies on the member’s behalf in order to locate stock of medications, which are often in shortage”.
Because of these shortages, the team can also explore other options: “If members are unable to access branded GLP-1 medications for insurance, cost, or shortage reasons, we offer compounded semaglutide and other generic weight loss medications shipped directly to their door”.
Once your clinician prescribes medication, getting it in your hands is a fairly quick process but could vary depending on the type of medication, your insurance and other factors:
“Typically, (shipping takes) a few days if the member chooses to self-pay, and 1-2 weeks if the member requests to have WeightWatchers run prior authorizations for brand-name GLP-1s.”
Getting a refill is also a fast and easy process. The brand says: “The member requests a refill through their app, which goes to their clinician to make the best clinical decision on what next dose to order.”
