Intimacy is a subject that many women shy away from discussing, especially sex after menopause. Side effects of hormonal changes, such as vaginal dryness, discomfort and pelvic floor weakness, are common during this stage of life, yet they often remain taboo. This leaves countless women without the intimate health support they need.

So, what do you do when your concerns are dismissed? If you’re Halle Berry, you take matters into your own hands. The actress’s wellness brand, Respin, and intimate wellness brand Joylux have announced a new partnership to advance intimate health for women in midlife. The partnership kicked off with the release of two science-backed products—both designed to empower women to reclaim comfort and confidence in their intimate lives and enjoy sex after menopause again.

Sex after menopause can be challenging

For many women, peri- and postmenopause bring significant changes to intimate health, particularly due to declining estrogen levels. Some menopausal and postmenopausal women may experience reduced arousal, sensitivity to touch and less interest in sex.  Reduced blood flow can also affect lubrication of the vaginal tissues, leading to dryness in over 50 percent of women, discomfort and even painful intercourse.

Additionally, pelvic floor weakness can make sex after menopause uncomfortable, plus contribute to incontinence and diminished sexual satisfaction. These issues not only affect your physical health but can also impact your emotional well-being and relationships.

For years, women have been told that their intimate health doesn’t matter. But Halle Berry and Joylux are aiming to change that. Berry, an outspoken advocate for women’s health, approached this collaboration personally. After experiencing her own painful intimate experience and a misdiagnosis, Berry made it her mission to find a solution for not only herself but all women and couples.

“When I realized that the product I needed wasn’t on the market, I decided to make it myself,” Berry explained in a press release. That need inspired the creation of LET’S SPIN Intimacy Gel, formulated with pH-balanced ingredients like hyaluronic acid and aloe to provide comfort and hydration. The product went through a year of development and testing by Berry and Joylux’s Ob-Gyn-designed product approach. “This product has changed my life,” added Berry.

Joylux founder and CEO Colette Courtion shared her excitement: “After years of dedication to developing products that enhance women’s lives, receiving the call from Halle and Respin was very validating. With Halle’s powerful voice, advocacy and Respin platform, we’re positioned to amplify our message and reach millions more women who want to advance their health and wellbeing.”

The products are now available at major retailers, including Nordstrom, Ulta and Bloomingdale’s. Here’s a closer look at the two new products that are especially tailored to perimenopausal and postmenopausal women:

  • LET’S SPIN Intimacy Gel ($45) comes in a sleek, recyclable glass bottle and features a formulation free of parabens, glycerin and petroleum-derived compounds known as PEGs. In a pre-launch study, 97 percent of women reported enhanced comfort and 93 percent experienced more pleasure after use. Though designed with midlife women in mind, LET’S SPIN is suited for everyone, regardless of age or gender.
  • Respin x Joylux vFit Plus Red Light Intimate Wellness Device ($495), which offers advanced pelvic floor therapy, allows women to address their intimate health needs from the privacy of their own homes. The device uses red light therapy, heat and gentle sonic vibration to improve vaginal lubrication and sensation. While previously available only through doctors, users can now pair it with an app. The brands claim noticeable improvements can be experienced in just a few weeks.

Supporting intimate health during menopause doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are some actionable tips to help reduce dryness, improve pleasure and renew your sexual desire:

  • Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water helps keep tissues hydrated and can reduce vaginal dryness.
  • Eat omega-3-rich foods: Incorporating foods like salmon, flaxseeds and walnuts supports hydration and overall intimate health.
  • Practice pelvic floor exercises: Kegels can strengthen pelvic muscles, improve sensation and enhance sexual satisfaction.
  • Communicate with your partner: Open, honest conversations about needs, boundaries and preferences can lead to more fulfilling intimate experiences. Consider experimenting with different, safe activities and have fun with foreplay.
  • Use lubricants and moisturizers: These can help with vaginal dryness. However, if you use condoms, choose a water-based lubricant to prevent them from breaking down.
  • Stay active: Regular exercise boosts circulation, reduces stress and can help enhance libido and sexual well-being.
