Ariana Grande opens up about her love for ‘Harry Potter’

Like so many of us, one of Grande’s favorite books is Harry Potter. And not just the first one—she loves the whole series. For those who are unfamiliar, Harry Potter is a magical coming-of-age tale written by J.K. Rowling. It follows Harry Potter after he is accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he meets fellow students Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The three of them team up for the rest of the series in an attempt to defeat the evil Lord Voldemort, who wants to turn the wizarding world into a dark and dangerous place.

“Everyone ended up where they needed to be, except the people who died. There were too many deaths,” Grande said in a 2024 interview with LAD Bible. “I didn’t need to cry the way I did. That was too much. You know who didn’t need to die? Lupin [one of Harry’s late father’s best friends] and Nymphadora [Lupin’s wife.] Dobby [the house elf who befriends Harry Potter in book 2]…. That was so upsetting.”

How ‘Harry Potter’ influenced Ariana Grande’s real life

Over the years, Grande has shared her love for Harry and the gang in a series of now-deleted social media posts, according to the BBC. She even named her dogs after three of the most beloved characters from the series, Sirius, Lily and Snape.

“Dogs are the most harmless, sweetest babes in the world. They show nothing but unconditional love, so they deserve that in return,” the singer told Billboard in 2016. “My mission is to help as many homeless dogs as I can find loving families who will cherish them. I love my dogs.”

Grande also did a series of Harry Potter impressions in a recent TikTok video promoting her makeup company R.E.M beauty’s new Blur Butter. During the clip, she slips into the voices of Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Severus Snape, Dobby, Molly Weasley, Bellatrix Lestrange, Oliver Wood and Moaning Myrtle.

“Bellatrix lestrange and moaning Myrtle are scary good,” wrote one watcher.

Another said “Dobby and Moaning Myrtle were 100/10.”
