The upcoming contemporary romance was announced by the author earlier this year, and it took readers—who were waiting for a new Fourth Wing novel—by surprise. Even so, the news was exciting for fans, especially after they learned more about the plot.
The story follows Callista Moran, who has just announced her engagement to Darren Knight when a sailing trip goes disastrously wrong. Stranded on a remote island for 18 months with her crew—and her fiancé’s cousin Dominic—Callista tries to resist the undeniable connection growing between them. But as time passes and isolation intensifies their bond, resisting becomes impossible. When they’re finally rescued and returned to the real world, everything changes. Now Callista and Dominic must face the ultimate question: Is what they felt real love, or just a product of their circumstances?
The book is set to release on November 17, 2026, and readers can preorder it now wherever books are sold.
“I know release day is a few months away, but I really can’t wait for you guys to get your hands on this one,” Yarros wrote on Instagram earlier today. “It was such a joy to create and it’s definitely one of my favorite books I’ve ever written!”
What we know so far about the ‘Peculiar Stars’ TV show
In her Instagram post, Yarros shared that Peculiar Stars is being turned into a TV show at Apple TV. She didn’t give any details on the cast or release date, but she did hint that the adaptation is going to have everything readers want from her.
“Guys, this is a first for me! I’ve never had the privilege of announcing a film adaptation for one of my novels before it even releases, so please excuse the over usage of exclamation points because WHAT EVEN IS HAPPENING?!?! What a dream!’ Yarros wrote in her social media post. “I’m struggling to find adequate words for how surreal this experience has been, and how grateful I am to the team at Apple TV for reading an early copy of PECULIAR STARS last week and loving it as much as I do! It’s the perfect home for this project! The scope, the settings, the characters and themes…they just get it!”
Are there any other Rebecca Yarros movies or TV shows coming out?
In addition to Peculiar Stars, Yarros is working on a variety of other adaptations, including one for her bestselling novel Fourth Wing, but details on that project remain limited. Yarros did tell Variety that she has read the script and that it’s “phenomenal.”
“I was kicking my feet the entire time I read it,” she added. “Really, just no notes.”
Along with Fourth Wing, several other Yarros novels are expected to be adapted, including The Things We Leave Unfinished, In the Likely Event, The Last Letter and Variation. However, all of these projects are currently in preproduction, so details about the cast, plot and release dates remain a mystery.
“I constantly say that The Things We Leave Unfinished is my favorite book, but it’s also one of my favorite adaptation projects,” Yarros wrote on Instagram in May of this year. “Guys, this team leads with such love, such a spirit of collaboration and joy, and I know that’s going to shine through on the big screen.”
