Ree Drummond is about to welcome her first grandchild! In this latest Alex Drummond pregnancy update, the Pioneer Woman’s eldest daughter reveals her plans for Baby Sofia’s arrival.

The eldest daughter of the Drummond clan and her husband, Mauricio Scott, are about to become parents as Alex is 36 and a half weeks into her pregnancy. However, Ree Drummond’s daughter recently shared an update regarding her health as she’s been told she’s a high-risk patient. Keep reading to find out what she’s said, plus her plan for the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Alex Drummond pregnancy update: a few weeks before Baby Sofia’s arrival

As of December 6, Alex and Mauricio are only a few weeks away from welcoming their baby girl, Sofia, into the world. The Pioneer Woman’s daughter has been openly sharing pregnancy updates since her announcement in June, and she doesn’t plan on stopping—especially so close to giving birth.

On that same day, Drummond shared an update to her Instagram stories revealing that her pregnancy is considered high-risk. “Today we have an appointment with maternal fetal medicine—which, because of my white coat blood pressure hypertension stuff, my pregnancy is, like, high risk,” she said. “So I go to appointments with both my OB and maternal fetal medicine, which is like, I guess, just a place to get extra scans, extra monitoring done for high-risk pregnancies.”

Due to those warnings, Alex and Mauricio felt it was better to double up on doctor’s appointments. However, up until now, her pregnancy “has not felt very high risk, because everything has been so normal,” she noted.

Part of Alex’s appointment schedule includes getting new ultrasounds every three weeks or so. “It’s always fun to see how she’s growing and see her positioning,” she said, adding that she feels the baby is “ready to go.”

According to Alex, the baby has been measuring in the 50th to 60th percentile range, which she says is “right on average.” Based on her previous appointments, data, and updates, Drummond Scott estimates that the baby will weigh more than six pounds. She added that it’s amazing to think that a six-pound baby is growing inside of her.

Drummond Scott also shared in her Instagram stories that her medical team originally thought she might need to be induced early due to the “blood pressure stuff.” Those concerns have “stabled out” since her blood pressure seemed normal at her latest check-ups.

“So now the plan is to just go to my due date, see if she comes naturally. And then obviously, if we go past the due date, we can induce,” Drummond Scott said. She added that she’s “glad that we’re able to just kind of wait it out, instead of having an early induction scheduled.”

What to know about Ree Drummond’s first grandchild: Baby Sofia Marie

Fans of the Pioneer Woman and her family are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Alex and Mauricio’s baby. Here’s what we know so far:

  • Alex and Mauricio are having a girl. During Alex’s baby shower on October 19, she revealed they’re naming her Sofia Marie.
  • Ree Drummond and husband Ladd have received their official grandparent titles. In the months leading up to baby Sofia’s arrival, the Pioneer woman wasn’t quite sure what her title would be. However, as of an “ask me anything” session on Instagram in November, Alex shared that Ree and Ladd will be called ReeRee and Papa, while Mauricio’s mom will be Abuela. His father and stepmother will be Pap and Kiki.
  • The nursery is set up. Alex recently shared a reel on Instagram that details the light pink, flowery bedroom that will serve as Sofia’s nursery. The furniture is ready, and Alex looks forward to the memories she and her family will have in that space.
