Ree Drummond’s Daughter Alex Shares Sweet Maternity Photos on the Ranch: ‘So Thankful for These!’
The Pioneer Woman’s first grandchild is expected sometime in the next month!
Ree Drummond’s first grandchild is on the way! Alex Drummond Scott, The Pioneer Woman’s eldest daughter, recently shared heartwarming photos from her maternity shoot at the iconic Drummond ranch in Oklahoma. As the family eagerly awaits baby Sofia’s arrival, Alex’s photos celebrate this special moment for her growing family.
Alex Drummond shares dreamy maternity photos
Alex posted a slideshow to her Instagram on Thursday with the caption: “Mom & dad loading…..Final few weeks just the two of us,” with a heart emoji. The photos feature Alex dressed in a wheat-colored off-the-shoulder maxi dress along with her husband, Mauricio Scott, embracing and admiring Alex’s baby bump against the backdrop of the warmly lit Western sky and fields of the Drummond ranch in Oklahoma.
Of course, their Golden Retriever George was also included, and Alex joked that the pup’s silly faces—particularly sticking out his little pink tongue—were a representation of how he feels about having to share his parents’ attention soon!

Behind-the-scenes peek
Alex also shared some behind-the-scenes tidbits on her Instagram stories, admitting that she was originally “on the fence” about doing maternity photos, but is now “so thankful we have these so we can always remember this sweet season.”
She also gave her followers a glimpse at a few candid blooper moments, like one moment where she and Mauricio laughed as he had to pick her up to help her onto her feet after they finished posing on the ground.
Ree and family react to Alex’s photos
Alex’s mom and siblings showed their love for her little family as well.
“The most beautiful sight in the world! Love you guys!!,” her mom Ree commented. “Ugh I can’t handle it,” Alex’s younger sister Paige wrote adoringly with pink hearts.
“She’s kickin,” brother Bryce Drummond chimed in about his niece.
Ree also posted her thoughts to The Pioneer Woman, where she shared a few favorites from the photoshoot.
“Alex and Mauricio may live in Dallas, but part of their hearts will always be on the ranch,” Ree wrote. “Alex grew up here, of course, and Mauricio spent so much time here during their engagement and early marriage while the kids were filming my Food Network show. It could be a little while before they move here permanently, but I think (hope!) they will be up here to visit once their baby (and my granddaughter!) Sofia is born.”
Alex and Mauricio worked with the same photographer and family friend, Betsy Dutcher, who took the engagement photos (also on the ranch) of Paige and her fiancé David, Ree noted. Sofia’s official due date is January 2, but she could be here even sooner!
“I said when I posted Paige’s engagement photos that you are all her internet aunts and uncles, so that means you’re Baby Sofia’s internet great aunts and uncles, too!,” Ree concluded.
Grandma Ree is ready for Baby Sofia
The Pioneer Woman star hasn’t been shy about expressing her excitement to see her daughter become a mom, and to welcome her first grandbaby to the Drummond crew. She’s really made an effort to keep fans in the loop—sharing the details from Alex’s baby shower, a tour of Sofia’s nursery, details about what kind of grandma she hopes to be and so much more!
“I’m getting back on the rowing machine so I can be a cool, hip, and fit granny,” Ree quipped back when she first shared the news of Alex’s pregnancy. “I’m getting started back with Pilates so I can be a limber, stretchy, and strong granny. I’m going to buy a bright red Trans-Am so I can be a young, awesome, and cool granny. Just kidding on that last part. Ladd and I are so happy!!”
Alex also revealed recently the name she thinks Sofia will call her grandparents Ree and Ladd once she arrives.
“We are thinking my parents will be ReeRee and Papa,” Alex said.
