On Sunday evening, the world tuned in for one of the biggest nights in country music as the Academy of Country Music Awards were broadcast on Prime Video, hosted by Shania Twain. The ceremony honored some of the most prominent artists in the country music genre, but it also recognized some of the newer faces making their way onto the scene—specifically, Avery Anna. The 22-year-old songstress took home the award for New Female Artist of the Year, and the rising star shared a sweet sentiment to other young women who hope to one day be in her shoes.

“I’m so grateful that walking into this industry, and especially onto that red carpet, and doing performances like that, that I am welcomed so lovingly by artists like Ella and Megan and Ashley McBryde, and all of them have been so kind to me and have given me lots of advice. I think there’s a really good energy between all of the women here tonight. They push each other to be better, but they also are cheering each other on, and I think it’s such a beautiful thing,” Anna shared at the show.

“And I don’t think that women should be pitted against each other, because we are each other’s biggest cheerleader, and like we were talking about earlier, to the younger girls, pour yourself into the person that God made you to be, and don’t let self doubt get in the way of that. When I start to feel insecure or doubt myself, I have to lean on the one person that knows me the best, and I lean on God to give me the confidence and give me the strength and give me the energy to keep on going and keep pursuing the passion that he put on my heart. And a lot of the other women that are here have said and do the same thing, so it’s very inspiring to me, and I hope to be that to the younger women in the next generations to come.

Who is Avery Anna?

Avery Anna took the stage at this year’s ACM Awards and stunned with her powerhouse vocals when she performed Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” and her track “Blood Runs Thicker,” and that performance had viewers at home wondering where this rising superstar came from.

The Arizona native might be just 22, but has been honing her skills for quite some time, gaining a following on TikTok when she began sharing her covers with the world. Before long, her videos landed in the lap of producer David Fanning, and soon enough, she was Nashville bound.
