The 'Full House' star shares the ups and downs of nearly three decades with her hockey player love
Over the course of her career, Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure has been a leading lady more times than we can count. Between the Hallmark Channel and more recently, Great American Family, the 49-year-old actress has brought tons of love stories to life on screen, but the one she’s most proud of is the one that’s unfolded behind the camera with her husband, Valeri Bure,a former pro hockey player. Candace and Valerie were just 20 and 22, respectively, when they tied the knot, and the actress has opened up over the years about the ups and downs they’ve endured as they’ve grown in their careers, grown as parents and grown as people. Here, read all about Candace Cameron Bure’s marriage to her husband, Valeri.
Candace Cameron Bure married her husband in 1996
In 1994, Candace was attending a charity hockey game alongside her Full House costar Lori Loughlin when she spotted Valeri on the ice. Later on, Dave Coulier, who played Uncle Joey on Full House, made the introduction between the two, and the next day, they went on their first date. “I didn’t know from day one. I just thought he was really cute and I really liked him, and I liked his little Russian accent, but I was 18, so I wasn’t thinking of marriage, and he was kind of really the first guy I ever dated, so it wasn’t quite on my mind right at the start,” the actress shared with UsWeekly. “But then we kept talking and it just went from like zero to 100.”

Do Candace Cameron Bure and her husband have kids?
Candace and her husband Val have three kids: Natasha, 27, Lev, 25 and Maksim, 24. Having raised three children together, Candace has opened up over the years about the periods of her life in which juggling parenthood and marriage has gotten difficult. “Your marriage gets put to the test,” she shared on the Stay True Podcast. “Because first of all, you have kids that come in, and they demand all of you. Then they get a little older, and then they pit you against your husband. You don’t even realize it. They’re little manipulative beings that are so stinkin’ cute, but they’re gonna ask you for a cookie and you’re gonna tell them no, and then they’re gonna go to Daddy and they’re going to go, ‘But I’m having a cookie because Daddy said yes.’ And you’re gonna go, ‘Why did you give that to her? I already told her no,’ and he’s like, ‘Well, I didn’t know that,’ and then you get into a fight, and then you’re like, that stinking little one just got us into a fight, and we love you. We love each other, and this is crazy. But that’s how it works,” she continued. “And it just gets bigger the older they get.”

Candace Cameron Bure has been honest about the ups and downs of marriage
Being married from a young age, the Full House actress has been open about the rough patches her relationship has endured over time. “It’s definitely been a rollercoaster. Lots of highs and there’s been some really low lows,” she shared on The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast. “I know that during some of those low times—I wouldn’t even say it’s low—you’re just kind of, like, sitting in the shallow of the valley where you’re like, ‘This isn’t the best, but that’s just life. We’ll just kind of go through it.’”
After nearly three decades together, Candace and Valeri’s love story is a reminder that lasting marriages aren’t built on perfection—they’re built on commitment, honesty and choosing to grow together through every season of life.
