Though only four episodes into the second season, Landman is already packing the drama with each passing week—and last night’s premiere was no different. One of the show’s integral characters, Rebecca, portrayed by Kayla Wallace, found herself in uncharted territory when a turbulent flight led her into the bed of a handsome stranger—an engineer named Charlie Newsom, portrayed by British actor Guy Burnet. Though the series has only just begun to scratch the surface of their new flirtation and this uncharted territory for the controlled Rebecca, fans are excited to see what’s in store. Here, take a look at last night’s episode, what Wallace and Burnet have said about this new chapter for their characters and get to know the new actor appearing on screens.

What happened in ‘Landman’ season 2 episode 4?

In last night’s episode of Landman, a whole lot of drama unfolded before our eyes. Tommy and his family attended the funeral of his mother—though there weren’t many tears involved. As it was revealed, Tommy’s mother was a harsh woman who struggled with addiction, ultimately leading to his departure from home at just 14 years old.

Seeing a more vulnerable side of Tommy was rare—almost as rare as watching Rebecca Falcone let her guard down. While on a private plane, turbulence makes for a shaky ride, and viewers at home saw the tough-as-nails lawyer riddled with fear. On the plane, however, she gets cozy with Charlie Newsom, the engineer played by Guy Burnet who eases her anxieties with an alcoholic concoction. The next morning, she wakes in his bed.

Who is Charlie Newsom? All about Guy Burnet

Guy Burnet brings to life the character of Charlie Newsom, though you may have seen him before his Landman debut. The actor has made appearances in series like Ray Donovan, Chicago Fire, Hand of God, Counterpart, FUBAR and The Feed, as well as films like Oppenheimer (2023). And he’s thrilled at what this next chapter in Texas holds for him.

Guy Burnet and Kayla Wallace open up about on-screen romance

Watching Kayla Wallace’s character and Guy Burnet’s character hit it off gave viewers a glimpse of some potential romance on the horizon, and both actors have enjoyed unraveling this plot. “She let her guard down and ended up in a random bed. And you can see a little bit in that last scene, a bit of banter between them, and they’re just such opposite human beings,” Wallace told TV Insider. “But it was a lot of fun, and I’m happy that I got to explore her in that situation. She’s usually suited up. She’s got her stilettos on, her hair is perfect and all of a sudden it’s messy. Her makeup hasn’t been washed off from last night, and she’s got to get to work.”

As for Burnet, he’s having a great time. “What’s cool about it is that it’s such a universal show. It encapsulates everything, and it does it in a really fluid way, because the writing is the best I’ve ever read, to be honest with you,” the actor told Town & Country. “Taylor [Sheridan]’s the best writer that I’ve experienced.”

Tune in on Sunday nights to see how their story continues to unfold!
