When Kym Johnson Herjavec appeared on the latest episode of Dancing With the Stars as a judge, fans of the show almost immediately started calling for the Australian dancer to have a permanent spot on the panel. While many at home might recognize her for her time as one of the pros on the hit dance competition series, what you might not know is that she actually found her forever while competing! When Kym Johnson was paired with Shark Tank’s Robert Herjavec on Dancing With the Stars, neither one expected romance—but the chemistry was undeniable. Now, years later, they’re living their happily ever after with twins and a love story that proves it’s never too late to find your forever person.
Sparks flew for Kym and Robert
When this dancing duo joined forces on the reality competition series, their relationship began with a comfortable friendship. “We were friends first, and we got to know each other on a friendship level; I think that’s really important,” Kym told PEOPLE back in 2016 while they were still dating. “That developed into something else, and it’s really great. We’re both each other’s number one fans, and have respect for each other.” Later that year, they tied the knot and have been together ever since.
Neither one of these love birds saw romance coming when they first paired up, but the stars aligned for the two of them and since their initial meeting, their lives have changed in ways they never could have pictured. In 2018, Robert and Kym welcomed a set of twins, Haven and Hudson, growing their family. Kym was 41 when she had her babies, and she’s thankful that she waited to find the one, allowing her to create the life she’s always dreamed of.
“It’s never too late,” Kym exclusively shared in an interview back in 2024, before the premiere of her film Hunting Housewives, detailing the shift she made stepping into acting. “Changing a career later in my life, I had children later in my life.” She continued, “Trust the timing of your life. I ended up meeting my husband later in life, and now I’m changing my career, which is kind of crazy to do at the age I am. But, I’m doing it and I love it and it’s great having this new chapter. It’s never too late.”
Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec find parenthood balance
Despite Robert and Kym having full schedules, they manage to make it work. “You always have a bit of that mom-guilt when you leave to go to work, but my husband and I really try to make sure one of us are at home,” she shared. “When he’s working, I’m there, the other way around.”
Whether they’re juggling work, parenthood or whatever life throws their way, Kym and Robert love the life they’ve built. “It’s truly a miracle,” she told PEOPLE of the timing of her life. “And to have met Robert, who is incredible, so supportive and my best friend, and then to have these miracle children was just absolutely amazing. So I couldn’t be happier. I have to pinch myself. It’s truly magical,” she added.
