Get To Know Bruce Springsteen’s 3 Kids—The Boss Raised Some True Rockstars (In Their Own Way!)
Bruce and his wife Patti raised their kids out of the spotlight
While some dads like to think of themselves as the boss in their families, others are “The Boss”—literally. Bruce Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, are parents to three grown children who have all forged their own paths separate from their famous mom and dad. Out of the three Springsteen kids, only their son Evan has taken an interest in music like his parents, but as a whole, Bruce and Patti’s careers were kept as separate as possible from the upbringing of these three.
“A lot of times, we just didn’t expose them to it,” Springsteen told The Times of his fame and the impact it had on his children’s lives. “They came to concerts a few times before going back to their rooms to play video games, and didn’t know much about it beyond what they may have read. When they were older, they wanted to bring their friends to the show, but apart from that, they chose their own lives, developed their own work, found their own partners and families, all at a nice distance from the strangeness of my job.” Here, get to know the three Springsteen kids and what they’ve been up to over the years!

Jessica Springsteen: from horses to Olympic glory

Bruce and Patti’s only daughter, Jessica, most certainly inherited her parents’ performative streak and work ethic, as the 33-year-old has been putting in the work since she was a kid in the horse riding world. In 2021, she participated with Team USA in the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, taking home a silver medal.
“My mom had always wanted to ride when she was younger, so when I was a kid, we moved to Cologne, New Jersey, and our house was right across the street from this big junior training stable,” she told Harper’s Bazaar of her equestrian origin story. “So I grew up with the horses, and I more just loved to be around them in the beginning, and taking care of them. I was actually a little nervous to ride, but then I started training and just kind of went from there.”
As for her parents’ influence, Springsteen gushed about their support ahead of her 2021 Olympic run, telling TODAY that it’s a journey she felt they’ve been on together.
Evan Springsteen: carving out a career in music—on his own terms

At 34, Evan is the eldest Springsteen child, and though he was the first to be exposed to the unique lifestyle of his parents, he has largely stayed out of the limelight, working as a music programmer for Apple—and his rather humble lifestyle is likely due to the parenting style of his mom and dad, which emphasized leading a normal life.
“We had, like, an 80-member Irish/Italian family…and that was the way that I grew up. So Patti and I wanted them to grow up the same way,” Springsteen said in a 2019 interview with Gayle King.
Samuel Springsteen: choosing a life of service as a firefighter

The youngest of the Springsteen bunch is Samuel, 31, who also tends to keep out of the spotlight of his famous parents. Back in 2020, Samuel was sworn in as a firefighter in Jersey City, NJ, after years of volunteer work and intense training, and at his induction ceremony, his mom and dad were sure to share how proud they were of him. “It was a long road, he’s very dedicated, quite a few years and we are just excited for him today,” Bruce told CBS New York.
