There’s nothing we love more than reading about the stars who found love on the sets of their films and shows, and that was exactly what happened for Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons, as sparks flew between them for the first time when they worked on Fargo with one another. Since then, they’ve shared the screen two more times, proving that their working relationship is just as strong as their romantic relationship. Here, read all about Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons’ love story, films and family.

Kirsten and Jesse first cross paths

Working together on the hit FX series Fargo back in 2015, the connection between the two was almost instantaneous. In an interview with The LA Times, Dunst explained how she and Plemons, “fell in love creatively first.” She continued, “He was like a creative soul mate to me and the way we both work. On Fargo, I knew after two weeks. I didn’t remember saying this, but one of my best friends told me that I said to her that ‘I will know this man for the rest of my life. I just know it.’ Just because I felt such an immediate connection.”

Within about a year, things escalated beyond friendship, and by 2017, the couple had gotten engaged. In 2018, they welcomed their first child, said hello to their second child in 2021, and in 2022, these adorable co-stars-turned-lovers said “I do.”

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons’ adorable family

Kirsten and Jesse are Mom and Dad to two sons—one of whom is actually quite the Spider-Man fanatic! Despite his love for the masked hero, when tuning in to the films, Dunst revealed that he couldn’t care less about her role in the iconic movies in which she starred opposite Tobey Maguire.

He watches it, but he doesn’t care about my part, obviously,” she explained to Seth Meyers on Late Night with Seth Meyers, explaining that when she’s on-screen, it doesn’t phase him. “I think ‘cause I have red hair, he’s like whatever—I’m the boring part of the show.”

Their second child was welcomed during the pandemic, an experience she talked about with Vogue. “Getting pregnant during lockdown was good for me mentally because I had to take care of myself and I had something to look forward to. But, it was also scary and really isolating. Your kids are affected by it too. It hurts you as a parent to see your kid in a mask going to school. But also, he had both of us every day and we got to hang out together. It’s so wild what we all went through in different ways and what we’re still going through.”

Sharing the screen and sharing a life

Over the years, Dunst and Plemons have joined forces twice more, working together in 2021’s Power of the Dog as well as 2024’s Civil War. And the love and support this couple has for one another will bring a tear to your eye! “Aside from the brilliant actor you are, I’ve also had the even greater pleasure of getting to know you as a person outside of work,” said Plemons at Dunst’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction. “Seeing the kind of mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and cohort you are is why I and all of your friends and everyone else are here today and why we all love you.” Adorable!
