“Well, I was very lucky that I was doing comedy on the weekends when I could, when somebody would let me. I mean, there were a lot of times I couldn’t get a rest in and nobody cared. But I was lucky that—I think it is so hard on women having to work full-time or doing a career and raising children. I just don’t know how in the world they do it. And I commend them,” she told NPR’s Fresh Air, explaining that she was able to fit comedy around her schedule and put her children first.

Leanne Morgan’s Son, Charlie Morgan, 32: the sweetheart behind so many jokes
Leanne’s 32-year-old son Charlie has brought her decades of joy over the years, and his mother will often tell stories of his sweet temperament and quiet hobbies. “My kids all yell at me and my husband—everybody’s always in a bad mood all the time—and he’s the only one that’s never fussed at me. And he was just the sweetest child growing up,” she reflected in one of her stand-up routines. In college, Charlie met his now wife Mary, and since tying the knot, they’ve welcomed two children together—children that Leanne is crazy about!

“We just stare at him and he smells good, we just smell of him,” Leanne told WBIR about the birth of her first grandson. “And, he looks just like Chuck Morgan, my husband. I’ve never felt like this with anybody else. He’s precious, but I know he’s not mine. Chuck and I want him to be ours. This is what we want to do, we want to still have Charlie at home and have his wife, Mary, who we worship, come and live with us and let us all raise Charles Wilbur.”
Leanne’s love and admiration for Charlie’s wife, Mary, is something she’s spoken about before. “I think about my little daughter-in-law, and she worked with a baby and pregnant and got an MBA at the same time,” Leanne told Fresh Air. “Those kinds of women blow me away. I don’t think I had it that hard. I really don’t. I mean, I was able to do this and raise my children, but I didn’t have it hard like a lot of women have it.”
Leanne Morgan’s daughter, Maggie Morgan, 30: the middle child with a heart for helping
Leanne’s middle child, Maggie, is 30 years old and enjoys a career defined by philanthropy. She works at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital as a Major Gifts Officer, and previously worked for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Though Leanne has told tales of Maggie’s angsty teenage years, it seems as though she’s grown quite a bit, as Leanne has shared during her routines stories of the way her middle daughter looks out for her and those she loves. “This baby has been a joy from Heaven! I say this every year…this middle child has tended to everyone in our family since she was 18 months old. We could not function without her,” Leanne wrote in a Facebook post on her daughter’s birthday.

Leanne Morgan’s daughter, Tess Morgan, 27: the creative youngest and a true fighter
Leanne’s youngest, Tess, is 27 years old and has also been forging her own path. Now a makeup artist, when you see her mom all dolled up, her daughter is usually the one behind the masterpiece! Tess was diagnosed with thyroid cancer back in 2020 and as of October of that year, she completed her treatment and was declared cancer-free. “You have been our joy and laughter from the minute you got here!,” Leanne wrote on social media for Tess’s birthday. “You’ve given me a run for my money, you crazy nut! You are sensitive, street smart, beautiful, brilliant and really bougie lol!!! I’m sorry you have to drive me at night. Mommy can’t see. We love you with all of our hearts.”
