Miley Cyrus Teases ‘Hannahversary’ Plans for 2026—Could a Hannah Montana Comeback Be Next?

For anyone who lived through the late ’90s and early 2000s and tuned into Disney Channel during that era, it would have been nearly impossible to escape the grasp of Hannah Montana. Behind the blonde wig and incredible songs like “Best of Both Worlds” and Nobody’s Perfect,” the teen pop sensation was simply teenage Miley Cyrus.
Nearly 16 years ago, Dolly Parton’s goddaughter sang “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” (as Hannah) and it seems that is exactly where the singer is headed—she’s hinted at the potential for something special and fans are justifiably losing it.
Cyrus, who debuted as her popstar alter-ego Hannah Montana at a mere 13 years old, dominated the world with her hit Disney Channel TV series, Hannah Montana, while simultaneously embarking on sold-out tours, red carpets and appearing in dozens of films and TV shows. The show debuted on March 24, 2006, which means 2026 marks 20 years since the beginning.
What Miley Cyrus said about the 20th anniversary
It’s hard to think back to Hannah Montana’s glory days and not hear a carousel of her greatest hits playing in your head, especially if you still listen to them today on your drive to work (no judgment, we all need a little Hannah once in a while). But when the series came to an end in 2011, did you ever imagine that the popstar could come back? See what Miley Cyrus said about what she’s planning for 20 years.
“It’s about to be the 20-year Hannahversary in March!” Cyrus explained, excitedly. “I want to design something really, really special for it because it really was the beginning of all of this that now sits here today.”
She continued, “Without Hannah, there really wouldn’t be this…me. It’s so crazy to think that I started as a character that I thought would be impossible to shed, and now, that’s something that when I walk into a space, it’s looked at as this sense of nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood. But now, I’ve sort of been integrated into everyone’s life as the character has.”
Will there be a Hannah Montana tour in 2026?
While the icon has mentioned potentially doing something special for the “Hannahversary,” it’s unlikely that it will be a major stadium tour. Cyrus has mentioned in prior interviews that she doesn’t have the vocal capabilities to fill an arena anymore, thanks to an issue with her vocal cords.
“I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord, which has given me a lot of the tone and the texture that has made me who I am,” she explained, “but it’s extremely difficult to perform with because it’s like running a marathon with ankle weights on.”
She later added, “My voice is super unique because of it, but I do have this Reinke’s Edema and I have this large polyp on my cords and I’m not willing to sever it because the chance of waking up from a surgery and not sounding like myself is a probability… I put a tour together like every other week because I want to do it, but it would have to be in a way that is sustainable for me.”
If you know Hannah Montana, this might remind you of a certain episode when Miley lost her voice and needed surgery, but worried she would permanently lose her voice. Of course, in typical Disney fashion, everything turned out just fine.
However, just because the star likely won’t go on a big tour for the 20th anniversary, doesn’t mean she doesn’t have something else up her sleeve. In 2024, Cyrus was inducted as a Disney Legend, which allows her to perform her greatest Hannah Montana hits.
“After being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool,” Cyrus shared.
So, with any luck, there will be some sort of Hannah celebration next year and we can all jam out to “He Could Be The One,” “The Other Side of Me” and all the other Hannah Montana hits. But in the meantime, remember you can still reminisce by watching the entire series on Disney+ and listening to the songs on streaming.
