The Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, the heart of the hit reality series Pawn Stars, is pure Vegas charm, and the show has been going strong since 2009. While the oddities and artifacts that come through the doors of the Sin City shop pull viewers in episode after episode, it’s also the cast that leads the show that has won fans over for so many years. From the no-nonsense patriarch Richard Benjamin Harrison to his level-headed son Rick to the more eccentric characters like Chumlee who make up this crew, Pawn Stars will always be a comfort show. Here, a detailed look at the family at the helm of this series.

Richard Benjamin Harrison is the ‘Pawn Stars’ patriarch

Richard Benjamin Harrison, often affectionately known as “The Old Man,” was the mastermind behind the pawn shop that serves as the focal point of the show. For 20 years, Harrison was in the Navy, and after his time serving came to an end, he pivoted into the real estate world. In the ‘80s, when the real estate market took a turn, he and his family headed to Las Vegas, where he opened the Gold & Silver Coin Buy & Sell Store, open 24 hours. This initial shop evolved quite a bit over the years, and it’s his vision that allowed for the store to become what it is today. Sadly, in 2018, Richard passed away at the age of 77.

Rick Harrison continues the pawn legacy

Rick Harrison is likely the face you recognize most from the show, and his knowledge and expertise in the pawn world come from decades of firsthand experience. After all, he dipped his toes in the family business as early as 13 years old! During high school, Rick dropped out and instead of school, pursued a side hustle of selling fake Gucci bags—raking in $2,000 a week. By 23, he was a partner in his dad’s business and today, he’s got a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable in the industry.

Rick’s son Corey, also known as “Big Hoss,” also got his start in the pawn industry at an early age. By 9 years old, he was lending a hand to his dad and grandfather in the shop and today, he’s proven to be a valuable asset. Though his father still believes he has a lot to prove, the younger edge he provides to the crew makes him an important member of the team.

Rick’s children: family business to tragedy

In addition to his son Corey, Rick is also dad to sons Jake and Adam, as well as step-daughters Ciana, Marrisa and Sarina. Jake is the only other one of his children involved in the family business. In 2024, Rick’s son Adam Harrison died following a fentanyl overdose at the age of 39.

Chumlee Russell is another fan favorite

Though Austin “Chumlee” Russell isn’t related to the Harrison family by blood, he’s Corey’s close childhood friend and has been a part of the family for years. Chumlee often serves as the comic relief on the show, as he doesn’t quite have the same knack for making a profit as the others who run the shop, but he still remains a beloved piece of this puzzle.
