Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were spotted having dinner together in Montreal at Le Violon earlier this week. TMZ released photos of the meet-up, sparking rumors and questions about a possible romance. The behind-the-scenes footage showed Trudeau, 53, and Perry, 40, in a lively conversation.

A communications consultant for the restaurant confirmed that the former prime minister and singer spent about two hours dining together, according to AP News. The duo met with Chef Danny Smiles during dinner and thanked the staff following their meal.

Although the pair tried to fly under the radar, fans spotted them in the restaurant, but said there didn’t seem to be romance in the air. “No visual signs of PDA or anything,” Samantha Jin told AP News.

While neither of the duo’s teams commented on the dinner or confirmed a relationship, fans are excited about the possibility of a budding romance.

The dinner comes just one month after Perry ended her engagement with long-time-lover Orlando Bloom.

Katy Perry’s split from Orlando Bloom

The couple began dating in 2016 and welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, in 2020. Three years after announcing their engagement, Perry and Bloom, 48, called it off. A statement released by the couple read, “Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”

The news came after a week of widespread speculation that the couple had split. Perry didn’t attend the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez in Venice, although Bloom was a guest and was pictured talking to Kim Kardashian. Fans speculated that the duo, who had been together for nine years, had split up.

Perry’s most recent milestone, The Lifetimes Tour, began in April and is set to finish in December. The world tour has stops across America, Abu Dhabi and Canada, where the singer is currently performing.

Perry will perform in Montreal tonight and Québec City on Friday.

Justin Trudeau’s divorce

Trudeau met Sophie Grégoire as a child growing up in Montreal, according to US Weekly. The former Canadian Prime Minister and television host reconnected at a charity event in 2003. The two began dating and got engaged one year later.

In 2005, they tied the knot and had three children throughout their 18-year marriage. In 2023, Trudeau announced their separation on Instagram. “Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate,” the statement read. “As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build.”

Since Trudeau’s divorce, he hasn’t confirmed any relationships.
