Regina Hall’s self-care philosophy at 54

In December of this year, Hall will turn 55, and for a lot of people, that means entering a brand new phase of life that can be unfamiliar and strange, but not for her. Instead, she views it as just another day.

“I don’t necessarily think of it as stages or decades. Each day and each year, I feel like I learn something,” she told Woman’s World. “I’m shocked that I’m in my 50s, not because I am, but because it goes so fast. I’m excited to make new memories with a different vantage point and a different wisdom in life. So I’m excited to see what that part looks like.”

Along with gaining some new memories, Hall is also excited about finding new “things that bring me joy,” and… laundry, which she says always helps her feel better after a long week.

“Sometimes I may need a week to recoup. Sometimes I might only need an incredible weekend, and it doesn’t need to be a big weekend, but one where I can really take some time to get those things done that make me feel like, ‘Oh my goodness, I have completed this.’ Sometimes I just have a good day doing laundry,” she laughed. “I know that sounds crazy, but it can be so soothing for me to clean my house and do laundry. To me, it’s actually quality self-time, because I’m taking care of something that makes me feel good. I do my sheets and I do my towels and there’s nothing like it.”

Regina Hall shares what’s next for her

After starring in several comedy films, Hall is preparing to try a different kind of acting. Voice acting specifically, in the 2025 film The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants.

“It’s my first animated fun feature, so I’m really excited,” Hall said. “It’s nice because my nieces watched it [SpongeBob Squarepants], and it’s nice to have something that people have grown up with. I play a pirate fish named Barb, and I’m excited.”

She also has a super exciting collaboration with Bounty Paper Towels, where she will help people understand the vital role those Quicker-Picker-Up rolls play in summer cookouts.

“I actually use Bounty Paper Towels and I am feeling really proud that I am working on things that I actually identify with, and that are authentic to who I am and I grew up with,” Hall explained. “My mom used it. My brothers and I still use it, and it’s the perfect thing at a cookout.”

Hall also shared that she sometimes uses them to dust with, which is another task she loves to do to unwind.

“I can honestly take 20 to 30 minutes to wipe my surfaces with my paper towels, and then I feel like the house looks really clean,” she said.
