Steven Tyler Relationships: All the Women The Aerosmith Vocalist Has Dated or Married
We go deep on the singer's many relationships and romances over the years
As one of the faces of rock n’ roll in the 1970s and 1980s, Steven Tyler lived the lifestyle of a true rockstar, which included the companionship of dozens of girlfriends and wives. As the frontman of Aerosmith, Tyler had no issues getting in good with the women he met on tour, and he dated quite a few of them.
From his early high school romances to his more recent partners, we’ve compiled a list of some of Tyler’s most memorable couplings over the years, aside from a few minor, unconfirmed romances. Learn more about Tyler’s past flings and later relationships.
Michele Overman
One of Tyler’s first known romances was with Michele Overman, who was considered a rock and roll groupie, having also dated Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour. Overman and Tyler began dating when she was 16 and he was 18, as the two went to high school together.
Overman spoke about her relationship with Tyler, saying, “He was really cute and really charming. You could just tell the guy was amazing. He’s one of those people who are so over-the-top talented with no brakes, no filter. You could tell he was going places.”
Julia Holcomb
Tyler’s relationship with Julia Holcomb was a problematic one. The two first met in 1973 when Holcomb was barely 16 years old, and Tyler was 25 years old. They soon became involved and their relationship progressed.
Since Holcomb was still a minor, her mother signed over guardianship to Tyler after she moved to Boston with him. Tyler recalled this time, writing, “Her parents fell in love with me, signed a paper over for me to have custody, so I wouldn’t get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour with me.”
While they were together, Holcomb became pregnant and according to her, Tyler was excited and asked her to marry him. But with the disapproval of his parents, their relationship quickly fell apart. Holcomb had an abortion when she was five months pregnant, which she claimed was asked for by Tyler. In 1977, the two split up and Holcomb returned to her own home.
In 2022, Holcomb, now Julia Misley, filed a lawsuit accusing Tyler of sexual assault in the 1970s. The lawsuit, however, was dismissed.
Carol Miller
In the late 1970s, Tyler began seeing Carol Miller, a radio personality and DJ. Not much is known about their relationship, but Miller recounted moments of their time together in her book, Up All Night. The two first met after one of Miller’s radio shows, where Tyler was waiting for her.
“Tyler, in a gray T-shirt and jeans, sat sideways with his feet up on a far corner chair and warmly extended his hand,” Miller wrote. “‘We’re working on the new album,’ he said, ‘and I could play you some of the stuff, but it’s back at the hotel. You wanna hear it?’”
Miller recalled that although the two were “involved,” he wasn’t someone she could see marrying. Their union came to an end when another woman, Bebe Buell, claimed Tyler had gotten her pregnant and was adamant that he take responsibility.
Bebe Buell
Tyler met the mother of his first child, Bebe Buell, in the early 1970s. It was about 1974 when Tyler and Buell came in contact, as she was visiting Boston with her then-boyfriend Todd Rundgren. Buell shared the moment they met during a 2018 interview with Rolling Stone.
“It was pouring down rain and mud everywhere and I was dressed in a long white dress and espadrilles and didn’t want to step over the mud,” Buell explained. “Todd was going, ‘Bebe, stop it.’ Steven could see what was going on and he comes leaping over, throws his coat over the puddle and picks me up and carries me across. I thought it was hilarious, and very gallant. Like a knight in shining leopard.”
That act of kindness was enough to win Buell over and the two soon embarked on a short affair, which ended with the birth of their daughter, Liv Tyler. However, because of Tyler’s drug addiction, Rundgren stepped in as a father figure for the early years of Liv’s life. It wasn’t until she was 10 years old that Liv found out Steven was her real father.
Tyler and Buell have remained close friends over the years and have become grandparents as Liv is a mother of three.
Cyrinda Foxe
After his romance with Buell, Tyler found his first wife in Cyrinda Foxe. When they first met, the model was involved with singer David Johansen of the New York Dolls. After only a year of marriage, Foxe left Johansen for Tyler and the two quickly tied the knot in 1978. That same year, Foxe and Tyler welcomed daughter Mia Tyler.
The two had a rather toxic relationship, with Tyler’s drug and alcohol addiction growing rampant with multiple affairs throughout. The couple were married for just under a decade, ultimately divorcing in 1987. Foxe sadly died in 2002 of a brain tumor.
Teresa Barrick
Just a year after his divorce from Foxe, Tyler married clothing designer Teresa Barrick in 1988. The two initially met while Tyler was still married to Foxe, but once they finalized the divorce, Tyler and Barrick began dating. The couple wed in 1988 and soon after welcomed a child together — daughter Chelsea — in 1989.
A few years later in 1991, Tyler and Barrick welcomed another child, son Taj. After 17 years of marriage, the two announced their separation and eventually divorced in 2006.
Erin Brady
Shortly after his second divorce, Tyler began dating Erin Brady in 2006. Tyler explained their first meeting on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
“She had this hairband on around her head,” he said. “She looked really old-fashioned, so I took her back in the room and she tied me up with it and I thought, ‘I’m marrying this girl.’”
The two dated for a number of years before getting engaged in December 2011. Tyler has credited Brady for getting him clean and keeping him sober. “I don’t want to go back to that place,” he said of rehab. “That place lost me, my kids, a marriage, a band—a lot of things—and it’s for real. That’s how dangerous that is. So, I take [my two years of sobriety] seriously.”
However, by 2013, Tyler and Brady decided to call the engagement off.
Aimee Preston
Tyler has been with his current girlfriend, Aimee Preston, for nearly a decade now. Tyler first met her in 2012 when she became his personal assistant. However, there was no romantic link between the two until 2016 when they showed up together at an Academy Award viewing at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation.
