Chances are that during the early 2000s, you probably either saw an episode of the hit workplace drama Suits or the teen drama Pretty Little Liars. Both of these were beloved series that had many memorable stars, including Patrick J. Adams and Troian Bellisario, who have been married for 10 years now! But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. They did have a moment where they actually broke up! To learn more about their marriage, including who appeared in the other person’s show right after they split and their latest baby news, keep scrolling!

A look at Patrick J. Adams and Troian Bellisario’s tumultuous relationship

Adams and Bellisario first met in 2009 while performing in a production of the play Equivocation—but they broke up two years later.

“Troian broke up with me, and I didn’t want to break up,” Adams revealed to PopSugar in January 2012, per Us Weekly. “The next day, completely un-ironically, I got an audition for her show, for a very small part on her show. A part that, at that point in my career, I would not have typically gone out for, but because it was, like, one day of work, on Pretty Little Liars [I took it].”

Following Adams’ appearance on the show, the two reunited and then got engaged in 2014. Two years later, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony that Bellisario told Refinery 29 she “tried on way too many dresses [for].”

“I’m an incredibly indecisive person, and I didn’t want to wear a dress that I felt was wearing me. So I picked a simple, really beautiful design,” she reflected. “I trusted my very good friend Rebecca [Wachtel, a makeup artist]  to do her thing. The constant back-and-forth between us is that she constantly puts makeup on me and I’m, like, ‘It looks like I’m wearing makeup!’ Then she says, ‘But it won’t in photos.’ Then I beg her to take some of it off my face and she tells me, ‘Trust me, you’re going to want it.’ Ultimately, I have to realize that she knows way better than I do.”

Patrick J. Adams and Troian Bellisario become parents

Four years after their wedding, Adams and Bellisario welcomed their first child together. Her name is Aurora, and both parties heavily gushed about her on social media following the birth.

“The world just got 8lbs heavier.  Thank you to everyone who fought for and protected our privacy during this incredible and beautiful time in our lives. Everyone is happy and healthy and loving every moment of this,” Adams wrote on Instagram in October of 2018. “I could not be more excited to bring a baby girl into this world at this moment. We will raise her to be powerful, to always speak her mind and heart and to live without fear. It’s a brand new day and a brave new world and they are both beautiful.”

Three years later, the two welcomed a daughter named Elliot in the car in a hospital parking garage.

“She [Bellisario] is still on all fours, butt facing the windshield,” Adams recalled during a June 2021 episode of Katie Lowe’s Katie’s Crib podcast. “Her butt’s at my head level, so I just go and pull down her pants, and [the baby’s] head is right there [so I pulled it out].”

“[It] all took place in the span of about three minutes,” he added.

Finally, on Tuesday, January 27, Adams and Bellisario welcomed their third child together. They announced the birth on Instagram, with Adams captioning a post of him holding his child’s hand, “Tag. You’re it.” As of publication, they have not shared what the child’s name is or what gender they are.
