After Unthinkable Loss, the ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ Cast Shows Strength—Where They Are Now
After the tragic loss of his grandson, Dog the Bounty Hunter remains surrounded by family
It’s been over a decade since Dog the Bounty Hunter first aired, but Duane “Dog” Chapman’s name has remained in headlines—and heartbreakingly, not just for his TV legacy. In July 2025, tragedy struck Dog’s blended family when his stepson, Gregory Zecca, was involved in the accidental fatal shooting of his 13-year-old son, Anthony. The devastating Florida incident has left Dog and his wife Francie Frane grieving publicly, with Francie asking for prayers as they navigate this “incomprehensible tragic accident.”
Dog, now in his 70s, is no stranger to personal loss. After rising to fame in Dog the Bounty Hunter from 2004 to 2012 alongside his late wife Beth and their children, he endured Beth’s painful cancer battle before finding love again with Francie. Despite the show’s end, the Chapman family has stayed in the public eye—with new relationships, business ventures, books, and bittersweet milestones continuing to shape their story. Here’s where Dog and his kids are now, and how life has changed since their bounty-hunting days gripped America.
Where is Dog the Bounty Hunter now in 2025?

After his debut series concluded, Dog remained active in the public eye, television sphere, and bounty hunting world. After Dog the Bounty Hunter came Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, a series where they lent their expertise to other bounty hunters and bondsmen in various cities to help them improve their operations. Later came Dog’s Most Wanted, where he and Beth got up to their old bounty-hunting antics in the final days of her life as she battled cancer. Beth sadly lost her fight in 2019.
Remembering Beth Chapman’s brave final days

After Dog the Bounty Hunter ended, Beth joined her husband on shows like Dog and Beth: On the Hunt and Dog’s Most Wanted, where she gave a candid look at her battle with cancer before her passing in 2019 at the age of 51. “It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven,” Dog wrote on X on the day of her passing. “We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.”
Did Dog the Bounty Hunter remarry after Beth?
After the loss of Dog’s wife Beth, he crossed paths with a woman named Francie Frane. Francie’s late husband, Bob, was an excavator, and when Dog called in need of his services, Francie picked up, informing him that her husband had passed. Coincidentally, Dog was also mourning the loss of his wife, and the two connected over their grief. In 2021, the duo got married and blended their families, with Francie having two sons of her own. However, their time as a couple hasn’t been without pain. Over the weekend, Francie’s son and Dog’s stepson, Gregory Zecca, was involved in the fatal accidental shooting of his 13-year-old son, Anthony. The Florida shooting has shaken the family, with Francie telling TMZ through a representative that they are “grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”
What happened to Leland Chapman?

Leland Chapman was often seen alongside his father on pursuits on Dog the Bounty Hunter, but he eventually left the show and went on to start his own company, Kama’aina Bail Bonds. He proceeded to appear on his dad’s spinoff series. Leland married his wife Jamie in 2016, and, based on his social media, looks to remain close with his family, having recently celebrated his dad’s birthday alongside some of his siblings.
‘Baby Lyssa’ Chapman’s book and business ventures

Lyssa Chapman, or “Baby Lyssa,” as she was often referred to, was another fixture on the series. After the show, she went out on her own with a few business ventures, including a clothing line and a tanning salon, and she even penned a book, Walking on Eggshells: Discovering Strength and Courage Amid Chaos. In 2020, Lyssa was arrested for harassment and resisting arrest. In 2022, she married Leiana Evensen.
Duane Lee Chapman, Jr.’s new ventures
Duane Lee was another face we often saw on Dog the Bounty Hunter, but he, too, ended up leaving the show. While the reason for his departure was highly speculated, he also ended up pursuing his own business ventures.
