‘I Will Never Forget You’: A Look at Who Yungblud is to Ozzy Osbourne After Touching VMAs Tribute
It started with a music video and ended with a surprise tribute performance
English singer Yungblud walked the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) carpet last night in Ozzy Osbourne’s jewelry. That’s right. The 28-year-old singer stepped out in a cross necklace that once belonged to the late rock and roll legend.
“He’s here with me,” Yungblud told E! News. “I’ve got his cross on, Ozzy forever, man.”
Below, learn who Yungblud is to Ozzy, and how the new rock and roll singer is planning on honoring Ozzy following his death earlier this year.
A look at Yungblud and Ozzy Osbourne’s friendship
Yungblud and Ozzy met in 2022 after Ozzy appeared in Yungblud’s “Funeral” music video—an idea that came from Ozzy’s daughter Kelly—and soon they became one of the music industry’s most talked-about duos.
“You know when people say ‘Don’t meet your heroes’? Ozzy, my whole life, has always been my North Star because I’ve just been mental,” Yungblud said on Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast earlier this month. “I’ve been crazy and f**king out there, and he was accepted for his madness and he was loved for his madness.”
From there, the two grew closer, with Ozzy taking Yungblud under his wing and teaching him the ways of the rock and roll industry. The Black Sabbath member also gave the up-and-coming pop star his iconic cross necklace.
“I didn’t think you would leave so soon the last time we met, you were so full of life, and your laugh filled up the room. But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t. I will never forget you—you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own,” Yungblud wrote on Instagram in July of this year.

“You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me, and as I said then and as I will say now, for all of us, the music was enough. You took us on your adventure—an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.”
Following that post, Yungblud made another post thanking the Osbourne family as a whole. He even included a photo of Ozzy’s wife, Sharon.
“I owe so much to you, your wife, and your family—you all gave me a road to run down and supported me when people would turn their nose up,” the post read. “You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember, from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little ‘too much’ or ‘strange’ in my life and career.”
“You loved life so much, and you adored music. It was your smile, man. You taught me it was beautiful to be out of the box.”
How Yungblud is honoring Ozzy Osbourne

Following Ozzy’s death, Yungblud announced he would be playing the Black Sabbath song “Changes” at every show in the future. This news came after he performed it at Ozzy’s send-off show in July.
“To sing this song for you at an event surrounded by legends inspired by you to a crowd that loved you was truly my life’s greatest honor, and I vow to play this song every night for the rest of my life,” the young singer said. “For the prince of darkness, you sure brought all the light to the world. I love you, Ozzy.”
