Gear up, Wholigans—The Who is back on tour this summer, and the iconic band of Brits might just be heading to a city near you. During a recent press conference, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey revealed that The Who would be embarking on their final North American tour across the United States and Canada, appropriately titled The Song Is Over–North America Farewell Tour. Here, see what the band has said about this final chapter, when the tour kicks off and more!

When does The Who’s farewell tour begin?

This exciting summer tour kicks off on August 16 in Sunrise, Florida. The run continues in Newark, New Jersey, with a total of 17 shows continuing up until September 28, where the tour will conclude in Las Vegas. Who will be joining The Who on tour?

While fans are excited enough at the thought of seeing this band on stage once more, they recently revealed that they’d be joined by a handful of familiar faces—and we can hardly contain our thrill over this lineup. As confirmed by the band, acts like Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters, Booker T. Jones, Billy Idol, Feist, Candlebox, Joe Bonamassa, The Joe Perry Project, ZZ Ward and Tom Cochrane will be making appearances along the way. Though it hasn’t been revealed at which stops these artists will be appearing at, we love the element of surprise!

Will The Who be touring in Europe?

Whether or not The Who will be continuing the farewell party on a European leg of the tour has yet to be revealed. As reported by DailyMail, during an appearance last week on Radio 4’s This Cultural Life, Pete Townshend said, “Whether it’s the end for The Who…it’s certainly the end of touring America. We’ll have to see (about Europe).” Regardless of what the future holds after the North American tour, the band are living in the moment, excited at what the leg of performances holds.

Every musician’s dream in the early ‘60s was to make it big in the US charts,” said Roger Daltrey. “For The Who, that dream came true in 1967 and our lives were changed forever. The warmth of the American audiences over the years have been inspirational to me, and reflect the feeling I remember getting after hearing the first rock records coming across the radio. Musical freedom! Rock gave us a feeling of generational rebellion. To me, America has always been great. The cultural differences had a huge impact on me, this was the land of the possible. It’s not easy to end the big part of my life that touring with The Who has been. Thanks for being there for us and look forward to seeing you one last time.”

And Pete Townshend has shared his excitement as well! “Roger and I are in a good place, despite our age, eager to throw our weight behind this fond farewell to all our faithful fans, and hopefully to new ones who might jump in to see what they have been missing for the last 57 years. This tour will be about fond memories, love and laughter. Make sure you join in.”
